Hi everyone, I thought I would share some of the mods I've made to my 4Runner now that I feel it's somewhat worthy of posting about.

New 265/70r17 BFG T/A KO2's on 2014 4Runner Trail Edition wheels that I had powder coated. Awesome tires and my favorite upgrade so far. I had some rubbing issues at full lock in reverse so I had to trim quite a bit of the front wheel well plastic. I went with Load Range C tires since I don't do any towing and the E rated tires I have on my FJ are a little too stiff for my liking.

Bilstein adjustable shocks up front and matching ones in the rear to replace the X-REAS system. The fronts are set at the second notch to level out the truck and by level, I mean the running boards are level, not that the distances between front and rear fenders and the tires are equal. I love the new stance and the ride is pretty similar to the X-REAS. I left the stock springs on instead of going with FJ springs, although I may swap out the rears in the future and go to the 3rd notch up front just for a touch more lift.

I replaced the headlights with blacked out ones from eBay and I installed a 30” light bar from Amazon behind the lower grille. I also replaced the Sport Edition chrome grill with a Limited Edition grille ordered from Smart Toyota Parts. I also blacked out all the emblems on the truck using plasti-dip.

Here is the switch I installed for the 30” light bar, ordered from OTRATTW

Because I visit construction sites for work on a regular basis, I always need an amber beacon on the roof. I hate running the cord down through the doors or an open window (especially when it’s raining) so I installed a weatherproof outlet on the roof and a switch in the center console to turn it on and off from inside the truck. This switch was also ordered from OTRATTW

Not pictured are the following:
- Additional power outlet in the center console on the passenger side next to the shifter
- Rubber FJ cargo mat. I always loved the cargo mat in my FJ so I found someone locally who sold me one for a six pack of beer and it fits perfectly.
- Rubber front mats from eBay – again working on construction sites would have destroyed the stock carpet mats. These ones are pretty cheap and not very durable so I will likely be replacing them soon with something a little tougher. But I liked that these actually say “4RUNNER” on them.
- Kinivo Bluetooth adapter that connects to the aux port in the center console and allows me to wirelessly play music from my phone through the stock stereo.

Very nice. I really like the looks of the wheel/tire combo.

Be interested to know how your headlights hold up in the AZ sun/heat. I also bought some blacked out headlights off eBay and after about 6 months the coating has started to peel at the very top.

Thanks! Good point about the heat. I'll post pictures after this summer. I've had the headlights on there since the beginning of September so they've seen some heat but nothing like June/July/August yet. And the 4Runner doesn't get garaged so that won't help things either.
