How big of a lift will you get with this setup?

How big of a lift will you get with this setup?

Just under 3" front (adjustable with 5100's) and depending how sagged your rear is, around 4-4.5 in the rear.

Looks sorta like this when you finish. Raked for sure, doesn't look that bad IMO but does bother some. 7wrap LC coils would lower the rear a bit. These are also 8 wraps and have the same colour code as Rickashay

Those are tall 33's. Actually measure 33" as they sit there.

Does anyone have any installation instructions for the Trd tundra/ land cruiser lift?

Should I just use the toytec ultimate lift kit instructions or what?
Also to get the shocks in the front coils can you take it to a shop to do that and how much would they normally charge to do that?
Thanks a lot in advanced

I may consider them in the future.

I noticed your sig says you have OEM e-adjustable struts. What are those exactly? Tokicos? Ive never heard of them

Sorry for the late response, just saw this now. The Hilux Surf's came with e-adjustable struts, there's a switch for normal or hard, and a solenoid on each strut that turns a valve on top and adjusts the shock valving, pretty neat stuff! My Land Cruiser has this feature as well, and they still work to boot, 21 years later!

Looks great in the rear, what do you need then to make the front as high as the rear?

It'll never be "as high", but you have two options. One is the 3" Eibach/Toytec springs, or bump the Tundra TRD Springs up to the 3rd notch on the TUNDRA 5100's.

The second option will result in more preload and a reduction in ride quality. How much? I don't know. Seems the only guys running the 3rd notch are those with armour requiring the preload to get them back to the lift they want. Because of the weight, they don't notice any added harshness, or it's negligible.

If you want a higher front end, I'd still run the 5100's, but get the 3" lift Eibach/Toytec (you can only buy from Toytec). Then run the 5100's on the BOTTOM clip. Any more lift than 3" and you run into bad CV angles.

Few other notes:

1) While you have the wheels off, remove the front mud flaps. They'll rub.
2) Your front bumper valence will likely require trimming to prevent rubbing as well. I now have mine sloped, but I'm running wheels with slightly less BS, and 1.25" spacers so I actually have more then stock wheels. They poke maybe 1" with the small chromes. You might want to see how bad the rubbing is on the front before cutting. I haven't flexed mine much, but I know the rubbing becomes worse. Not sure if it was the front or the rear though... I'm suspecting the rear flap bolts. Can't find button head metric locally. Ridiculous.

Mine rubs like crazy on the top of the rear wheel well (the underside) at full stuff, but that's only when it's REALLY crammed. You will most likely need to do the front pinch weld mod as well. I have done it and it still rubs slightly under compression with some steering turn.

This has been a very interesting discussion. After going through it all, it seems my needs are totally different than most of you; I really don't want a lot of lift. I'm looking for something that will handle all the weight I carry. I have a '97 SR5. It has 205,000 miles on the suspension. The front end is totally stock as is the rear, e.g. no heavy bumpers, winches, etc. I have a Columbus RTT on the roof over the rear wheels, and carry close to 300 lbs of gear in the rear. I run 265/70R16 tires and don't want anything wider or taller.

So it sounds to me like the ToyTec OME complete lift kit would work pretty well for me. What do you all think?

Thats awesome. These sound like something I would be interested in using. Are the Hilux e-adjustable struts long enough to accomidate a lift? Or do you just use the LC's? Im running the OEM LC Tokicos (not adjustable of course) with my 890s right now I and really like them.

Sounds to me like some OME 906's would accomplish what you have in mind very nicely, and for far less $$ than a full lift. Do a search, they handle extra weight very well, and provide about 1" above what '99 talls would provide in the rear, can be used with stock front, stock struts all around, stock brake hoses, etc.

To be clear, both my Hilux Surf and my current Land Cruiser have OEM e-adjustable struts, I have not changed them on either truck. They worked find on the Surf with the OME 906 springs I ran in the rear, but anything more than that and I think some longer struts would be required. I'm going to be running OME 861/862 springs on the Land Cruiser shortly, and plan on keeping the e-adjustable struts unless they prove to be too worn out to handle these springs. On normal setting they are too soft, I always leave them on hard/sport setting.

They are very expensive to replace, if for any reason one strut was found to be worn out, I would replace everything with something aftermarket as it would be cheaper.

Thanks very much for your advice. I will check it out. Will let you know what I come up with.

If we ever meet up you can try the Green Tokico LC struts. They definitely do not bounce.

At the same time they do feel better weighted with a few hundred lbs of gear/dog. (or a rear bumper..)

I find without armour the set-up is a bit rough, but comes into play nicely when loaded up heading to the bush. The rear as you know sags quite a bit and then even my steering gets better (0'd out caster).

I think the factory Tokico's and the aftermarket Trek Master Tokico's differ by about 20$ each.

If my paint comes off and rusts I'll hit it with POR15.

Does the factory Tokico's come with electronic ride adjustment?! That could be fun.... Use a simple switch to adjust the damping..

Yah Vic runs the OEM Tokico's and likes them. I've swapped trucks with him on the trail before and his suspension setup is definitely firmer than mine, both front and rear. I really dont think my rear shocks are bouncy... I should edit the first post. I think it was simply the transition from the hella-stiff OME into the super squish bilstein setup made my comparison a little skewed. I'll be keeping my rear tundra Billy's until I go full Icon or Walker Evans f/r.

Electronic ride adj. would be epic!!
