**Rickashay's OME vs. TRD Tundra/LC Review**

Would 5100s solve the OME setup?

It sounds like the recurring issue with OME springs may be pairing them with OME shocks. I wonder if this post ever would have started had Rick originally used 5100s?

Would a setup of OME coils + 5100s be a middle of the road solution, somewhere in between full OME and TRD/LC, in terms of ride quality/comfort?

I've been considering OME 880/906 and 5100s all around, but this thread has me hesitating. This is my DD, and I definitely don't want the on road manners that Rick explains in the first post...Don't want the higher lift of the Tunrda/LC setup.

Im heavily considering the Tundra TRD for my front and the LC8 in the rear with Tundra Bilstein 5100s for both for my 99 SR5.

Do 35s fit? Im assuming 33s fit no problem, but was wondering what max was.

Do i need to upgrade my upper and lower control arms? Wasnt sure how much travel was affected.

Thanks.

33's are max without much work. If running 35's you would need to do some cutting/hammering of the wheel well. UCA's may be needed to clear the 35's, not really needed for 33's if you run an offset tire or wheel spacer. Stock LCA's are fine.

New UCA's?

Is it worth it to put on new UCA's after this lift? Trying to decide if I want to buy Light Racing or Total Chaos upper control arms when I do this lift.

Tundra spring confusion

I have been looking for Tundra springs for my lift and I was always under the impression the the correct springs (48131-AF100/090) are from >Access Cab>TRD>4x4>Tundras
I still think this is might be correct as I recall seeing the correct color codes on these and the last time I did this lift that is at least what I thought my springs came off of....
BUT
On the Sonoran Steel Website I just found the following:
"The only coil that works and is tall and soft is 2003-2004 Full 4 Door Double Cab, 4WD with TRD Package. The coils have the color codes Yellow-Yellow and Yellow-Blue."

Can anyone weigh in on this, is Steve sschaefer3 correct on this?

Just ordered the exact OME combo(881-60004/890-60028) with top spacers in the front the OP had originally for my '01 SR5 and I'll be running 285/75R16 KO2's with stock UCA's. My truck will also have a 1" body lift as well as diff drop, panhard drop and rear bump stop drop spacers. I'll report back with results when it's all together.

I am doing the tundra front and lc 8 wrap rear. Tundra 5100's and not sure about the rear shocks yet?? Which shock in the rear is the softest???

Can I get some input from the followers of this thread please. My setup is as follows:

Front: 99 talls on 5100s (3rd gen 4Runner Model)
Rear: 906 coils with OEM shocks
Measurements Hub to fender are (I have an 02 w/ limited flares):
Front: 22"
Rear: 22"

I have two questions:
1) I have seen many people report a 21" measurement in the front using tundra 5100s and the tundra trd progressive coils. Why did I end up an inch higher?
2) My 99 talls provide nice lift when paired with the 3rd gen 4Runner 5100s but my nose definitely likes to dive upon medium-hard braking. Would this be different with the TRD progressive coils?

Coilover position

What notch do you have the coils on in the front? I believe i have mine on the second or third on up and my ride is so damn stiff i can't even reach the radio sometimes haha. Having the coil on the lowest setting is it still about 3 inches of lift and if so it sounds like your ride is great. I on the other hand only have a 4cyl and not that muchweight upfront so maybe these coils are just too beefy for my runner. Any input is appreciated and this was a great thread.

Which springs?

I called a local 4 wheels parts and they cant seem to find the part number rickoshay used. They told me the only part number they are finding for the tundra 5100's is 24-261425. Which seems like maybe its a new part number instead of the old one? Can anyone verify?

Yes, that's the new part number of the updated 2000-2006 Tundra 5100. The extended length is shorter by about 1/3" compared to the old model.

I know one person has chimed in but does anyone else have an opinion on how the Tundra/LC option handles towing? I want a economical 3'' lift on my toy shitbox but i still want to occasionally tow without it being a death trap.

If you run Tokico rear shocks with LC coils it can tow pretty well. If you tow a really heavy load then you will want to get a set of in coil air bags. This will let you pump up to get rid of the sag and stops a lot of the highway sway.
