Ride Quality Difference- Limited Vs SR5

I am actually extremely happy with my SR5 4x4. While the Limited does have a more sophisticated suspension, primarily for on-road handling, the SR5 is vary capable. I thoroughly enjoy driving mine.

It depends on your use and your preferences...and how much your wallet can take.

I like SR5 quite a bit..I have not driven a trail or a limited.... and I have to admit that the car does "nose dive" but no big deal...I mean it depends on how picky you are about these details. The sr5 comes with cooler wheels any ways ;)

In the end it comes down to what you can afford.....I myself would have loved getting a trail but did not feel the need to go above 34 K into the 40 K regime (plus it does not have a third row option which was a deal breaker fro me). The SR5 (4x4) is the best bang for the buck so to speak. So if you care about cost then the sr5 is a better option.

And as said above, looking long term, looks like the sr5 is more suspension customizable than the limited... so if you intend to use it off road...get the sr5...to bad they did not make a manual tranny SR5..that would have kicked serious ass...

In a nut shell, if you are going to spend the money on the limited and do not want a third row seat: get the Trail...its a much more capable car than the limited. Plus its a part time 4x4, and you can get the crawl control stuff water proof seats..and the better rack.... just my 2c.

Thank you all for your feedback! It was extremely helpful. Rhinosaur and Fuzzylogic...thank you for your comments...I have decided to go with the SR5 with the 3rd row seat, primarily because we would like to have that option of the 3rd row seat and also more importantly because of the cost. My wife and I decided that the SR5 would serve our needs better at a cost that is affordable. Thanks again all..your input was very very useful.

Full credit? Sweet! Where was that?

Discount Tires here in Winter Haven Florida, but I think any knowledgeable tire dealer can and will make the same efforts to get you the best deal. All it takes is a phone call and and a reasonable explanation, and Dunlap will assure the dealer a fair return value. So I was told.

Sounds like the end of the Thread. Good luck ChetJ. Hope you get what you want and need.

Go get it! You won't be disappointed. The more I drive mine, the more I love it. I haven't had one minute of buyer's remorse.

Post some pictures once you've brought her home.

By the way...my wife is now commenting that she likes my 4runner more than her 2 month old Altima. We had a long talk about that. I'm trying to balance peace at home with avoiding an in house trade at all cost.

We might be a dual 4runner household in 24 months or so. But, this one is mine!

How to make SR5 feel like a limited

My wife drives a 2011 limited and I stepped up to a 2016 SR5. The drive is night and day different. I like the on road feel of her limited. The SR5 has serious body roll and nose dive. I drive 40000 miles a year and really want to make the ride as crisp as possible. What is the best way to achieve this? New springs, shocks, tires? I'm all ears.......

Did you not test drive?
Get some decent tires first. That will help tremendously.
If you do a quick search you will find hundreds of combinations of shocks and springs that will do anything that you want. Start in the stickied thread for new owners.

Having just replaced the stock Tokico shocks on our SR5 Premium because I dislike the body roll and nose dive I have a question. Do all 5th Gen's use the same coils? Do the KDSS and XREAS equipped vehicles use a stiffer or more progressive spring rate for their struts or rears?

The Bils 5150's I replaced the stockers with helped a lot, but when we have all seats including the 3rd row occupied we routinely hit the bump stops.

I'm not a suspension expert, but I've never seen anything on this forum with regards to using different coils. Heck, I think the 4th gen is even using the same coils as these guys.

The only difference as far as I'm aware are in the actual shocks, or in the case of KDSS, the sway-bar and the way it's connected and used.

I did test drive, honestly I didn't drive the 2011 enough to notice te difference until I had driven the 16 everyday for about a week. I am looking at tires and shocks ASAP. Just hate to waist the tires.

I have ridden in a friends 2015 2x4 SR5. When comparing the SR5 2x4 vs. the TEP there is definitely a difference in ride comfort. The TEP rides smoothly, the SR5 rode very hard. Almost like my old Xterra.
I dont know about the limited vs. SR5.
