14th Mod: LX450 8 Wrap Coil Install & Remove 890's

Auto Zone $50 refunded (preferred tool)

Finally getting around to do my quick write-up on the LX450 8 wrap install. I bought (2) sets of coils LX450 and a set of Land Cruiser 8 wraps, so technically the cost of this mod was only $100 for each pair.

I installed the LX's first because I read they are a little softer than the LC. So, I figured I would go from one extreme to another (removing the stiffer 890's). If they are too soft, then I'll just swap them out for the LC's.
To be on the safe side since I had never done this before. I rented two spring compressor tools (plus they didn't cost me anything, just a deposit that was refunded when I returned them). One fork like thing from Pep Boys and the other from Auto Zone. The Auto Zone tool worked best for this application.
First I took some quick measurements from the top of the rim (I know, I know, should have gone from the center of the hub). Looked to be pretty even across the board. Made sure the truck was on a level spot, then put the truck on a pair of 6 ton jack stands. I had 3 jack under the rear of the truck. One sat under the diff and one on each side, so I could raise and lower the rear axle.

Found out I didn't need to remove the lower shock bolt. Which was a good thing, cause I couldn't get it off anyway! However, I did need to remove the uppper nut from the rear sway bar, which was pretty easy. Raised one side of the axle as much as I could, then slid under and put the spring compressor tool on the 890 coil and cranked it down to about 15.5" and then they just slid out. Did the opposite with the LX coil and poped it in and moved onto the other side.
Here are all 3 coils, from right to left: 890/LX450 8 wrap/Land Cruiser 8 Wrap

Lastly a trip to the rack.
Not perfect, but the best I can do for now untill my adjustable pan hard bar comes in. Then I'll go to a real shop that can do lifted truck alignments.

5th maintenance: Replace PS Mirrior
Cost: $50 used
Time: .75 hours
Got around to replacing the cracked passenger side Mirrior. Not exactly sure what happened, but it was like this when I picked up the truck from my mother.
Not a big deal cause the Mirrior functioned fine. It was just annoying to look at.
Tuogh part was finding a color matched heated Mirrior.
Had to loosen the door panel.
Cost: $50 used
Time: .75 hours

Used some simple green, break cleaner and a red scrub pad.
Masked the pistons
Sprayed in a box to avoid over spray. Roughly 4 coats.

Looks great, I think I'm going to do my calipers blue to match the spacers.
