They are attached to the brackets they come with.
I used a right angle drill and went through the steel bumper to where it kind of splits.. there is a space there to slide a nut into.. i dropped a carriage bolt through the hole and with some patience grabbed the nut, hand tighten until i got a ratchet wrench on there.. Done deal...
The only struggle I had was how much grill to cut away. There is a small lip in the plastic part of the grill where it attaches to the bumper cover on the inside. I had to cut this lip away without cutting into the bumper cover to fit the lights attached to the brackets. After cutting the lip away it fits SNUG into the space.
I used The Ryobi JobPlus multi tool with the trimmer attachment to do the cutting and then the sander attachment to smooth it out. GREAT tool.

However, If I was going to do this again, Self tapping screws would be fine!

Nope that switch from Air On Board Fits factory spot perfectly.. no grinding of any kind.. just pops in.
I will try to get a few shots behind bumper cover tomorrow. But its pretty straight forward.. if you pop your hood and reach down to bumper you will feel a space/split between upper and lower. thats the space i drilled to and dropped the bolt into. Hardest part was actually getting the drill to fit straight on the bumper where i wanted the hole to be... I broke a few bits trying to get the right angle... I ended up taking a broken bit and fitting into the right angle drill to fit the space

Its been a few weeks with them, No problems at all.. I haven't gotten around to taking pictures behind the bumper cover but I will.. Anyone else thinking of doing this setup.. I highly suggest the d2's... Phenomenal light in all aspects//
Installing the switch is the easy part. Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the panel, and pull the panel straight back to release the clips at the top. Then, just pop out the blank and snap the new switch in.

Wow my thread got brought back to life.
The switch from Air On Board its direct fit. it literally slides into the preexisting ports on the left side of your steering wheel. the wiring is pretty self explanatory and both the switch and the rigid lights come with instructions. It really is easy. This is still one of my favorite mods.
I cant speak highly enough of these lights. I have used them through every weather condition, submerged them in water and mud multiple times. the still hose off and operate like brand new. and look great.
