Rigid Industries DOT Dually Fogs Installed

So I searched on the forum to see any photo tread of the Rigid Industries DOT fogs and didn't really come up with much. Received the set over the weekend and was able to install them the same day. I wired mine with the harness that was included ( yes, I will lose the stock options but will use that later on for future project ie. spot light ). Still need to adjust them a bit but over all I enjoy them a lot on road.

beam output, just need to adjust the passenger side down a bit

I had the XB LED before and they were great, but I wanted something more roughed looking.

This photo shows how it would look like if you put an HID or an high wattage bulb in the fog housing... It will bubble up and melt. The previous owner had HIDs in them and it melted the housing

Looks nice! I heard the issues about HIDs in fogs and that light output would be horrid anyway. One question though why do you lose the stock option?

I wired it independently with it own switch, so I can use the stock switch later on for something

Oh no! Most people simply don't understand that the (plastic) housing's specifically made for a Halogen bulb. HID's scatter light and excessive heat melts.
I've done many conversions to LED/HID in the past and always cringe when I see something like this LOL

Is it very foggy in Dallas? I live in coastal Maine (consistently pea soup) and only recall using my fogs once in the past six months. Maybe your eyes are worse than mine, but that's unlikely..

It isn't foggy, but I live in an area that's very wooded and near a creek. So those critters come popping out of no where. Plus I like more light on the road since some part doesn't even have markers or lanes. Also weather has been crappy and constantly raining for hours on.

I can't tell from the picture but is there enough room to use the colored covers on these fogs with the brackets? I am interested in these but prefer to use the amber covers.

from the look of it, you can't put amber covers on it since it " snap " around the body of the housing. You can take off the the round metal cover but you will have just a square light in an circle opening. You can get a sheet of yellow or amber Lamin-X and cut it to size and place it over the lens.

this is the part you have to remove if you want to put any covers on it.

Do they in fact offer these with amber leds? That would be ideal. I have only seen the white. Maybe my google search wasn't as good as it should have been.

FYI to all those interested in the amber color...

I called Rigid and they said they cannot offer the SAE fog in amber because it cannot get the approval in that color to stay street legal. They recommended the flood pattern if you wanted the amber color.

OP - what is your opinion on the fitment of the fog kit? I remember there were a few people who weren't too thrilled on fitment when the fog kit was first released, but not sure if anything has changed since then.

Trying to choose between the Rigid and the BajaDesigns LED fog kits...!
