Rim Deal... good or bad?

Hey,

So there's a guy I know who is trying to get rid of his FJ wheels. Nice guy, and pretty fair price I think, $200. Only problem is, 2 of the rims have some pretty deep scratches. I was planning on getting the wheels powder coated. I don't even know if that helps scratches. Anyway, what do you guys think?

That is a good deal for wheels. If you are buying all 5, make the nastiest one the spare. Before you powdercoat, you have to sandblast all the old finsh off , so most of the scratches will be gone. Any gouges in the metal can be smoothed over with a grinder and will look ok when the pc is finished.

You will need to paint the center caps to match. They are plastic and cant be pc'd. The Toyota emblems can be removed prior to painting.

The price is right and I think when you add everything up, you will be under the price of buying a new set of wheels.

+1If your looking for some project rims or looking to powder coat this is a sweet deal to jump on. However, If you are just powder coating to cover the scratches, well, then its up to you what works out better. i would get the rims, take them to a shop to make sure they are not bent and if it checks out...move in with the purchase.
