Cant find the answere in the tutorials anywhere. I imagine everyones going to have different answeres to this to. What offset is everyone running not to have to deal with the spacers? And what do you think is a good size for the 3rd gen (16,17,18, ect)?

I guess this is more of a detailed poll than anything.

It will depend on what size tire you are planning on running.

I have 16x8 wheels with a 4" backspacing. If you have the wider flares, it's perfect. Pushes them right to the edge without going over.

im looking at most like running 33x12.50. I have the fender flares that come on the limited. Now im looking at the difference in price between the 16-18 inch tires.

What kind of lift are you on or are you planning on? A 33x12.50 is going to rub in all sorts of places.

That was in another post I put out there. Im going with the EMU 3 inch lift, then going with the 2 inch body. Going to try to clear all around with no trimming or rubbing.

My rims have a -4.5" offset, no spacers, minimal rubbing fully stuffed after pounding down the pinch welds and a little grinding.
They are the ProComp 98 series I believe.
A good cheap wheelin rim!

I think your getting ahead of yourself.. from what I've read youve settled on a 3 inch lift, and a body lift.. You won't fit 33's with that small of a lift... They rub on the bumper, the pinch weld etc.. get a bigger lift OR go to 32's
As for you question on backspacing- Im running stock wheels with 5/16 spacers.

I'm clearing 33's right now on a 3" lift with a 10" wheel with a -32 offset. They rub occasionally but it's bearable. However, I'm going to a 33x10.50 to clear up all the issues. Today, actually. It should stuff a lot better in the back without tearing the tire up.

16x8 Wheels with 3.75" back spacing. Perfect IMO. Im pretty sure im going to clear my 35's without wheel spacers even on the front

I noticed when we ran Odessa that I was rubbing all over my UCAs with my 35s and 3 5/8" backspacing. Only at or near full droop though.. and not enough to damage the tire. But with those MTRs you're getting, they might run even wider so be ready.

OP, generally, you need ~4.25" to run 285/75/16s (33x11s) without rubbing. If you want to run a 12-12.5" tire, you'll want to have your backspacing between 3.5 and 3.75". Since you're getting a 2" body lift, you should have little to no rubbing on the bumpers and firewall (with 33s). However, you don't need a 2" bl. You can easily get by with 33s and a 1" if you do some minor trimming. That will keep your center of gravity down and when you're getting tippy, that extra inch makes a difference.

Your not the only one, who's got em with only a 3 inch lift, it still baffles me lol.
I've got close to 4 1/2 inches up front and still needed a body lift to keep from rubbing. I still rub on the UCAs at full droop but its minimal, not enough to damage the tires. I had no prob in the back, but I'm sure they would have rubbed without the body lift at full flex. What wheels are you running? I want to get a wider set for some street tires..

What you talking about willis? I'm clearing 33's on a 8.5" rim -10 offset with a 3" lift and no body lift.

Thanks guys this is helping a lot. how much are these offsets pushing the tires outwards of the fender flares? Esp the 3-3.5 that was stated. And is anyone running bigger than 16's? Maybe 17-18's?

I've got Mickey Thompson Classic Locks in a 10" with -32 offset, (came with the truck). As of last night I have a brand new set of BFG M/T's in 32x10.50. They barely rub the front bumper when I turn a little fast on the road, no biggie. Last night I took it on some pretty good trails and the only time the front rubs is when I hit a pothole pretty hard. If I'm crawling it doesn't rub, or not enough for me to notice. I'm going to hammer the weld up front and trim the bumper and we should be good to go.

Front Fender to Hub: 22.5
Rear Fender to Hub: 24.5

I am running 16 x 8 wheels with 4.625" backspacing. I also have 1.25" wheel spacers. So combined, I have 3.375" backspacing. For lift, I have 3" suspension and 1.5" body lift. I'm running 35" tires and have no rubbing anywhere. Of course I did pound/trim the pinch weld and firewall some.

Good luck.
