Rim question

Does anyone have any problem with rims after a certain mileage or years of use? I need to buy new tires this month and I have 65k. Will the stock rims I have give me more years or should I shop for tire&rims combo now to last me a few more years. Right now rims are straight and she drives great.

I wouldnt consider wheels a "wear" item on a vehicle. Damage to wheels is another story. If they are damaged in any way (bent, cracked, rusted), then yes, I would shop around for new wheels.

I think most go with new wheels because they are looking for a new/specific look for their vehicle.

Mine have been experiencing some corrosion from the inside and i've come to find our rims to be of mid quality at best. Costco's has been good about cleaning the wheels when air leaks from the bead (TA KO's) but, they've also done a number to jack up the areas where the wheel weights go. Have they taken abuse, sure. I'm at 113K miles, on an '04. They will easily go the rest of the trucks life.

Unless you bend them jumping a curb or something they'll last you for the life of the vehicle. They may get curb rash or scratches, but they'll work just fine unless you just want to change the look of it.

I have the same rims and mine still look brand new after 140k miles of abuse...imo those particular rims are high quality

Ok thanks all. Good to know the rims will keep- unless they get burned at Rausch Creek in Oct . Going offraoding and seeing what the 4R CAN do is the most fun even if u have to break something :thumb3:.

You're in the rust belt so eventually the rims will corrode & leak air unless you use steel rims/snow tires in the winter. When you change to new tires the shop should check them & polish them if needed.

The rims will last forever. However I have some bubbling and corrosion on them which kinda makes them ugly a little bit but they'll last forever. BTW i have an 03 sr5 but it had the 17's on it when i bought with a 16 spare...so who knows which rims were original
