Brakes look bada$$! For wiring the lights, have you considered internal? Drill some holes and weatherproof with grommets and maybe some rtv, one pigtail near the sweet connector you'll inevitably find and one up front. Wouldn't be too bad fishing the wires.

and what drill more holes in that beauty of a rack? lol , thought about it but was cringing at the thought of breaking up the powdercoat again, but ultimately you may be right, depends on what sort of cable track i can come up with in the end and how much of a bother it is, i got fish tape if need be, it all really comes down to how clean it all ends up looking, after all i got this cool rack now and don't wanna ugly it up from installs but rather from bushes and branches, lol :fro:

loving them, rides like a dream on the road and handles the washboards at 45mph great, i haven't found a single thing i can complain about with them besides the lack of wrenches when you order...the only that really sucks is i can tell how bad the rear end setup is now when compared to what the front is doing, the shocks being valved different means they can't keep up on the washboards and tends to drags the wheels across the tops where as the front wheels always stay in contact with the ground the whole time, the radflo's are much quicker than the billies and lc rears, but hey for the price difference between the two they sure as heck better be the dogs bullocks....at the expedition rally i went to a few weeks ago i was following a LC 80 with kings all the way around and i seemed just as smooth as him across the trail and also followed a few other rides and the vast majority seemed to be rattling and bumping down the trial where i was just floating like a cadi, i know for how i drive and what i do i couldn't have gone with a better choice , but i was in contact with the owner as well and told him exactly what i wanted to do and how i drove...... another side note is the shock body is threaded the whole way, if things wouldn't break i'd imagine you could get 6 inches from these shocks as im at about 2.5 inch or more and i'm not even a 3rd of the way down the shockbody yet.

if want to get a go pro at one point and hook it up underneath and watch them work...i think i may ask a buddy to borrow his next weekend when i head out to the gorge

yep You need to choose but look for proper amps (hirose is offering sth like that)

found my mil spec fitting, but am having a rough time figuring out the correct relay to run all 4 lights through a min amount of wires running into the cabin, i'm really trying for 3 wires through the sheet metal and the rest all run to a small relay. the lights are 55w HIDs with integrated ballast, i am unsure of the math on this to spec out the proper relay. how'd you guys run them?



as for my winch i've made up and mounting plate and have given up on the idea of an in-cabin operation scheme due to cost and labour, just to much going into it for what it's worth imo, would rather get out of the truck and plug in than spend the $$$ and day or two to wire it up right. i'm picking up the side facing mount for the stock bumper loaction on the passenger side front fender well, i'll update pics when i'm done machining the bracket sometime this week.


thought i'd also throw some lazy sunday stroll pics in as well. gotta enjoy the truck even if you only got a few spare hours on a sunday to do such things!

The Silver Phoenix is looking great! Glad to see you were able to recover from the smash so quickly... I was living in Corvallis, OR when I got my current runner and I know it's not easy to find them there, not price-wise anyways.

Man, that pic makes me miss the PNW! Mt Hood was my favorite place to spend my free time!

nope, still getting the wiring sorted, the plan is to sort out the winch in the next week, get married then deal with the lights the week after before winter gets here.

Man, I'm awful at responding. I'm not going to make it. One, it's the weekend of my annual Neah surf trip. Two, I'm not even going to that because I forgot that I already told my gf that I'd go to one of her friends wedding. Bleah!

DO you have pictures on the installation of the front bumper?

I am thinking to buy a bull bar and Schrockworks fits perfect but that $1070. The ARB is $200 less and heard that it needs some adjustments to the front frame. If the adjustments are easy, I will go with ARB.

Lol...adjustments...you take a sawzall a cut two small plates off the frame rails , literally 5 mins of work cutting 4 small bead welds and the whole thing slips on . I did the whole thing by myself in the rain the first time and had no issues, it was one of the easiest mods I've done to date .
You do nothing to the bumper itself, just the. Rails on the truck .

Take into consideration the lead time of the shrockworks as well.

That said the shrockworks bumper looks cooler imo and has more room for lighting as well...i want real fogs but have no place to put them and am strongly considering cutting the bumper up so i can run some ambers. With my actual off road lighting...otherwise like in previous posts ill just swap amber bulbs in the hellas and run those as fogs...

hey sorry i missed this! yeah they had figured in the arb,roof rack,winch, and tool box in the back, i did ask about the back and they could accommodate, price is a bit fuzzy as it's been a bit now and i never actually bought those, maybe one day, as i can tell the back lags, give 'em a call, they were easy to work with and did a great job.

i'm half way through my dual battery build and thought i would update this with a few pics and kind of layout the process, i'll try to do a proper write up sometime this week.

here's a few pics of the battery box in the making.....some scrap 6061 channel i found laying around, some all thread and a couple of 6061 plates and it's about ready, just gotta go into work to cut and tack the center strut.

and all i'm missing is a few nuts and washers then i can get on to the wiring, come this weekend i should have both batteries and my winch up and running.:trophy:

i'll come back around to the roof lights as i'm still killing myself on if i want to drill holes or not, i'm having a tough time even finding a shop comfortable with it, and i do live in washington, i may just go in through the weather seal...what say you?

solenoid...i couldn't find room for the deep blue sea add a battery kit i had laying around so i opted for a $30 standard solenoid for now ...

ok so i did some funky stuff here, i had a mile marker winch but the solenoid box was to big and same goes with the solenoid itself, so i threw that on the shelf for spares and picked up a xrc8 solenoid rated a tad bit more than the original mile marker solenoid...and don't get me wrong the mile marker solenoid was a good one, but just overly big and i had no room ....so in short i got the winch wired up and running from the cab, i'm going to spice a remote in there at one point so i can operate out side the truck if need be.

made a plate to mount the remote box, had to zip tie it as i didn't have bolts small enough

box tucked away and wire fed

pull center section of the dash out and drilled a clearance hole, if you do this the hole needs to clear the grommet not just the size of the hole in the plate like i did..


mounted plate and fed the wire through.

ran the ant wire the standard route down the drivers side and made a hole with grommet in the side of the tail light housing and hooked it all up

don't know yet, waiting for my meter to show up, amazon is slow because of the holidays, waiting on the spring as well as a few other goodies. i do plan on getting a hoop around the ant mount and running a ground wire if needed. i got massive ignt noise so am looking at my options of sorting it out, i'm debating on my next ham unit and if it's going to be something like an icom 7000 or more simple like another handheld tri-bander, i'm not quite sure how far i want to get in chasing down RF....you got a good cheap solution?
