Hey all,
I have a 2nd gen with a naked roof. I have searched and found useful information where someone installed a factory roof rack on a naked roof with riv nuts. Good info, but I want more.
I want a basket style roof rack for light duty loads, camp box, chain saw, maybe a ammo can with tools and recovery gear. I prefer the low profile type but i'm also on a budget. $200-$250.
So here's my plan. I'm thinking I might forgo the factory rack and bolt this Rage Power Sports rack to my roof using Riv Nuts.
Roof Luggage Rack
So I guess i'm just feeling a little gun shy because I've never used Riv nuts. --Are they gonna be strong enough?
-Should I definitely use steel riv nuts or are aluminum okay?
-Someone have a way better idea?
Any advise, cautionary tales, or shouts of "Hell yeah do it man!"
