Off soon for a trip to Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Monument Valley.

Looking for specific recommendations for scenic roads and camp sights in or around: Moab, Idaho Falls, Jackson WY, Monument Valley.

Only have a couple of days in each area.

Thank you for your input

For Jackson I'd recommend Atherton Creek (43.63878, -110.52263). Close to town but far enough away to keep the crowds away, plus it's right on a small bluff overlooking a lake.
For Moab try driving the White Rim Trail. Lots of great camping along the route plus the views are supposed to be great!
I can't help with the other two but take a look at Allstays camp and RV app. It lists all the campgrounds nationwide.

Here's a great resource.

And here another but more for dirt bikes and quads.

Home - Stay The Trail

We've spent the last 5 summers out there dirt bagging - this summers effort was 42 days! Let me know if ya got any specific questions.

And by chance we were in Ouray for this years FJ Summit. The Alpine Loop between Ouray and Silverton is a hot bed of wheeling. You could spend 3 days just exploring that area!

Thanks! I was beginning to think there was no one on here that does the outback - just cruise the malls!

There are quite a few trails noted on expeditionutah.com along with a big section on ghost towns if you are interested in checking some of those out. The have some links to beta versions of surrounding states also but I have not looked into those sites myself.

Hey OP - how'd the trip end up?

I'm about to do something similar - any advice? (I'm starting off in Washington, DC.)

Great, but only scratched SW Colorado and Moab. Must return to dig deeper. So many trails, so little time. Search my blog to see some photos and videos of the trip: Home.

You didn't say when you are going. If Fall there are spectacular color. Have a great trip!

For sure - there's never enough time to adventure!

I'm in the planning stages of the trip. Doing a cross-country route with a few weeks set aside for slow-going camping/off-roading in Utah/Colorado. Finding cities to visit is much easier than finding trails to grapple with!

I have yet to do a proper suspension / body armour upgrade, so my biggest concern is getting stuck somewhere in Moab and needing to pay a 2k towing fee! (DC doesn't offer much off-roading, so suspension is pretty low on my priorities).

As of now, based on outside research / YouTube / t4r, the places in Utah I'm looking at are:

- White Rim Road
- Shafer Trail
- Dead Horse Point
- Skyline Drive I
- Gemini Bridges Trail
- Baby Steps

Open to any and all suggestions!

Cheers,

Pasha
