Nice build- I made mine a couple years ago. I really wanted to replace my crossfire 290's with the new 1080ti but I forgot I hardly ever play any games with my last year in school keeping me busy. I just like to geek-out about the hardware I guess! Having a newer i7 that overclocks to 5ghz would be nice though...

Yeah dump the AMD's! I took advantage of the 1080 price drop since the TI is out now. That TI is no slouch :car:

I feel you though man. It just get harder and harder to find time to game these days. My wife Just left on a 4 month internship for her wildlife biology degree soooo yeah time for me to get some gaming in XD

I'd like to start by saying great looking rig

I recently picked up a front runner rack. I ordered some mounts for my RTT (I used to just bolt on factory rails). When you have your RTT mounted the front runner how many rows do you have available?

I guess the question comes down to how much do actually I have to play with/use when I have the tent on the rack?

not much room at all...

I thought I had measured the rack and tent correctly cause I ordered them both at the same time... I should have had extra room for the dual jerry can holder... buuuuut I dont. So I have a jerry can holder that sits in my garage now lol

you can kinda see in my sig. pic.. it takes up pretty much all the slats.
 
bummer that's what it looked like. I was hoping you would say at least one slate.. but i guess if you wanted to open the window you can't put anything tall there huh... and gas might just smell tomuch to put so close to the tent

If you contact frontrunner they can send you a kit to make it longer.. But it could slightly bow over time. I think I'm going to have them send me the kit come next winter so I have a little project to work on.

Little update since I havent been on in FOREVER! Since I the last time I was on I have taken the runner on 1900 miles worth of trips. I have another big trip coming up next month that I am going to make a little video on.

Installs and purchases since last update:

Rear drawer for cargo area
Kinetic recovery rope
New CV axles
Oil Change
Hi-lift plus some HL accessories
CB
installed LED's on the rear lift gate (interior) to shine down when door is open
and maybe some others that I am forgetting... Also reinstalled the tent for the summer <3

What's up man. I'll be back home in anchorage in a few months and ill be looking for some winter trails to hit. I just got into the offroading thing so it would be cool to have someone to meet up with. If you're ever going to Denali area or somewhere within driving distance of anchorage hit me up, if you don't mind me tagging along.

Did you build a platform for your fridge to sit on in that position? Or is the seatback just folded down flat?

Been thinking of mounting my fridge there as well to keep more room for cargo in the rear.
 
I just discovered your build thread. Nicely done! And what an amazing scenery you have there.

I might end up to your place in a few weeks, driving from Montreal, Canada... What would be your top 5 things to see?. I might spend only a few days since I would be touring northern Alberta and British Columbia, and Yukon. I am looking for mostly easy trails since I could be alone and I would not be camping.

When the snow is beginning to be a problem?

And please, no mud since KO2 are not so good in it.

Hey man sorry I just saw this! Hope you had a good trip though!
and yes the KO2's arent super great on the ice. I have since upgraded to the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and they are AWESOME on the ice/snow/mud :D
 
I postponed this trip until at least next year. Frankly, I wasn't ready for such a long drive there. Better be fully prepared to really enjoy it to the max! For sure, I will contact you before leaving.
 
Well I have been MIA for quite some time... Honestly I was happy with how my 4Runner was performing so I put my efforts into other hobbies. Mainly Photography (@robbywallacephotos on Instagram if you wanna check it out). But the 4Runner has suffered some bumps and bruises since then and figured I would share them with you guys along with some updates that are on their way!


First bump/bruise that is note worthy would be my Crankshaft seal. Living in Fairbanks without a garage is a real pain in the butt for maintenance and honestly I tend to neglect my 4Runner when it is -40 outside. I just trust that everything is good and only get oil changes. Well due to the extreme cold my crankshaft seal finally gave out and caused a leak that was saturating my serpentine belt in engine oil causing it to deteriorate rapidly.... and it failed at the worst time. I was on my way to a client's home for an appointment and my belt failed as I was pulling into the clients driveway. It wrapped around the power steering pulley, breaking it from all the stress and causing a power steering leak right in the clients driveway. Fortunately, he had an okay attitude about it and didn't give me too much grief other than telling me that I "should have bought American" (LOL)

 
Just a week after I had my Crankshaft Seal, Power Steering Pump and Serpentine Belt replaced I hit the road with a buddy to go hunt some Caribou near Chicken Alaska. (which is right on the way to the "Top Of The World Highway" to Dawson City Canada. Beautiful drive, if you ever get the chance, do it.)

I got myself a bou and am still enjoying the meat and pelt from it today.
