So just to be clear, Harper7 or IdriveAT4R, can you stand on the Shrockworks rail while the door is closed to access the roof rack? I put kayaks on top often and I want to know if these will work before I order them. Thanks!

I wear size 11 shoe and I stand on it to wash the the top of the truck.I don't know how hard it would be to balance with a kayak in your hands

Hey guys, how about just order a step slider from Shrockworks? Just tell him to make the rails flat/0* degree vice the 15* degree cantilever. I have talked to Shrockworks two weeks ago and the price is the same as his original design. This is what I'm going to order in a week once I get the money. Then I will go to Lowe's or Home Depot for an aluminum diamond plate to be installed on top of the rails.

I think mine are 30 degree but if he says he'll do custom then that's cool!You have heard about long wait times......

do you have to remove any of the trim to put on the rock rail from either supplier and if so how does it look with out the trim? I would like to keep the trim if possible for a more finished look.

The TE you do not, but the SR5/Limiteds the side skirts get in the way and need to be removed or trimmed down.

Is there a trim piece on the TE that can go on the limited when the lower panels are removed? If so what color does it come in? I am guessing black by the photos I have seen.

TE rockers only comes in black and does'nt tie in with the SR5/Limited fender flares.

+1 Harper. Grerat info, so much great info on this board that it gets hard to find for a newbie.

Has any one tried to finish the exposed area? I was thinking that it could be painted out black to match the sliders. While I would like to replace all the trim With TE trim, I think the repaint would be a lot cheaper and easier.

If you can order a set that come straight out from the frame mount as opposed to angling up, would you still have to remove or modify the SR5/LMTD rocker panel covers?

Shrockworks on 2010 Limited

I installed the Shrockworks Rock Rails on my limited and ran into a few issues. I had to bend out the hard lines in the front and create a bracket out of a bolt, 2 nylon spacers and a hose-guide with rubber padding.

I also spent 2 weekends cutting the factory rocker panels and used the trimmings to clean up the rockers so it would have a more factory look when reinstalled.

The end result was that there was too much material (especially at the front wheel well) hanging to low and as a result when the truck moves, you would hear the plastic moving. I am now shopping around for the Trail Edition plastic (rockers, fender over molding and mud guard) and my dealer is painting it to match the factory black of my truck.

I would be interested in knowing if it is possible to make sliders that do not require the removal of that trim pannel or if a rocker trim could be included in a package with sliders, these guys work in metal, maybe someone does fiber glass, black in color would be fine for the limited or sr5 Any Ideas?

Been there done that... My 2002 CRV had a custom made vented carbon fiber hood..S2000 start button and RSX Type S Recaro seats. So this one has been easy so far Harper7 is my role model with this vehicle.. I just found out about his new skid plates.... I'm jealous

I was fully aware and okay with the fact that I might destroy the rockers, but since Harper7 had already told me that I could go the route of TE fender over-molding and rockers, it was an educate gamble. Hoping to find out all the part numbers for the TE plastic tomorrow and start shopping for those. sucks in that it will be another $600 but I guess that's the price for keeping that "stock" look. :banana: I'll post the part numbers when I have them all.

On a Limited or SR5 you would lose so much ground clearance, it would not make sense to make sliders that would fit below the stock rocker panels. If a custom shop would have to engineer and produce the plastic pieces you would likely end up paying more that simply buyig the Trail Edition rocker panels, front fender over-molding and mudguard and having those painted in your truck's body color. That's the route I'm going now.

I'm not sure how it's going to work out just replacing just part of it on the sides.

The back may be a problem as the flare over the rear wheel well for the TE is thicker near the back where it ties into the rear bumper flare. Also,the rear bumper flare on the TE is a separate part and has the top part of the mudflap molded in. Where it is molded into the bumper cover on the SR5/Limited and not separate.

On the front wheel flares and mudflap,it looks like it will tie into the front bumper cover except the fact the TE's are sort of a pebbeled texture and not smooth like the SR5/Limited. A good body man should be able to fill smooth and paint that to match but he'll charge extra.

The best thing to do is find a TE in your area and park next to it and see the differences.That is what gave me my mental blueprint!

Anyone try the weld on sliders yet? For some reason they are less expensive ($400 installed at a local shop).

Maybe the bolt-ons ordered online are better material, but I've heard nothing but good reviews from Tacoma drivers with weld-on sliders from this shop.

Just not sure if it's worth $580 after shipping for the Shrockworks compared to the $400 weld-ons, unless it voids warranty's or has any other potential issues.

Ordered my Shockworks last week. ETA of November 15th for delivery.
Hopefully they arrive sooner than later!

Here is a pic of the measurement for exactly how far the Shrockworks stick out .This picture is shot looking straight down near the rear of drivers doorway,right below where the door weight/info stickers are.

It gets a little bigger,maybe a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch,the farther you go back as the sliders go straight like the frame but the body curves in a little bit near the rear doors.

If Egstyle or someone who bought the Rocky road ones,would be so kind to shoot us a pic of the measurement of rocky road sliders at the same place we would know how much farther out they sit. I really don't think it's that much.

Have you tried doing the TE trim runners above the sliders yet? Does it fit against the LE front and rear trim?
