The front of the box is held down with some turnbuckles attached to the factory D rings behind the seats. The rear is bolted down through the floor. I used a sealant and sprayed it with undercoating to protect it.



I then ended up stapling my rear cargo mat to the top, I think it finishes it off nicely. I will eventually add some D-rings to the top to hold down any additional cargo. I think it came out pretty good, I am happy with it. I just need to find a grill to put over the sub. Here are the final installed pics, enjoy!

I was just going to suggest getting a grill. Two other things I would do with the sub area. Add some ploy-fill, it will help with resonance. And not sure what sub it is or the power, but I would add some bracing inside the enclosure. 1/2" is pretty thin for a sub box. You should be able to screw in some triangle braces through the sub opening. That will help reduce the flex in the box.

Good job, looks really good. I was also inspire originally from the same person on the FJ forums. Which latch did you go with. The one he posted was a bit too much for me. I wasn't ready to spend $100 on those latch

I ordered a grill off Amazon but it was too thin, my dogs would step right through it. So i'm going to get one of the waffle style grills. My sub is a Focal 10", not a whole lot of power going to it so I don't think its going to break anything but i'll keep an eye on it. Good tip on the poly-fill, i will try that.

Thanks! I went with a slightly smaller (and cheaper) latch off Amazon. Problem is, its not as deep so I had to put a notch on the top of the drawer so the striker would make contact with the latch.

How difficult was the SSS bumper install as far as cutting? Cutting holes always scares me, so how thorough are the instructions?

Piece of cake, but mine is a trail so I just cut out where the bumper trim piece was. It basically makes the pattern for you. I also ended up just cutting with an xacto style knife. Much cleaner than a dremel.

Yeah they Trails and the pros have a bumper fascia that is the exact size you need to cut out, so it's easy to trace and cut

There is about a 4" gap. I was going to try and make a wedge that I can throw in there when I'm planning to crash in the truck. I'll post a pic soon of the seats down

Exactly the pics i was looking for. Not the answer I wanted. I'm still looking to find something to make it level in the back. :redbrick: Why would they not make it flatter with the seats down?

Anyway... Awesome build, I ordered the Kreg jig regardless.

Not sure, I would think the only way to make it flat would be to build a lift up tray style. Around 3" tall with a hinge at the rear.

You will like the Kreg jig, its a handy little tool. I think they sell it at Lowe's.

Spring time in Colorado blows. Love this state the rest of the year but April to about mid May is horrible. At least it looks like mothers day 'may' not have its usual annual blizzard ... so far!
