This is how I bought the 4Runner in November of 2015.

Painting

After the first trip out in the 4Runner on Yankee Hill, I was ready to get rid of all the chrome covering the car. I was also interested in bringing the trim back to life after years of neglect.

Before I painted anything, I hit all of it with steel wool and sandpaper to give the paint something to grab on to. After that I hit it with several coats of self-etching primer.




Once the bumpers, trim, and wheels had a good coat it was time for the next step. I decided to paint everything with Rustoleum Matte Finish Trim and Bumper Paint. The finish was exactly what I was going for.








I never really got a good picture of it right after I finished because of the snow. But here is a picture of it once I got it back home from my families house.

Question. I have seen a dealer that sells low mileage vehicles and always take pictures at that parking garage. Where USD the located in Denver?

Tires

Trying to hit trails in the snow was not working with my street tires. I had come across the BFG KO2's and I was looking for an excuse to pick some up. A week later I popped a tire and it was the perfect excuse to make a run to Discount Tire.

Decided to just go with the 265/75/16 for the time being. This was a step up from the last size of tire I had, but was obviously all I could with without a lift.

Trails and Small Projects

One of my favorite places to camp and wheel is an hour or so outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado in Rainbow Falls. There are a bunch of different types of rock and terrain.






Some shots of the start of my sleeping/storage system for the Runner. This is still a work in progress and once it is completed I will do a full post on it.

Lift & Satoshi

After months of reading here on the forum, I decided on doing a Tundra/890 lift with Bilstein 5100s all around.

Huge thanks to Alex Fleming "Flemster", for the help on gathering everything up and letting go of his 890's. Another huge thanks to members of my family who let me use their two post lift for the whole process.










In the same weekend I picked up a Satoshi Grille, and with more help from Alex, got some Raptor Lights thrown in.

Eye Candy

Some photos taken after I got the Runner lifted. These photos are both from the trail and while shooting photos out on the race track. Its great to have a rig to work out of when your out shooting desert races.

Custom Full-Length Aluminum Rack

With a big trip in the works, [MENTION=129084]Flemster[/MENTION] and I decided a couple of full-length racks were a must. Not to mention you can't beat having something custom.

One of the biggest requirements for the rack was the ability to accommodate a large rooftop tent. The racks also had to be lightweight and follow the roofline of the Runner. After a week of planning we had our designs worked up in modeling programs and decided that aluminum was the only way to go.

The Big Trip

After a month of hard work it was finally time to get the Runner out and enjoy it all. [MENTION=129084]Flemster[/MENTION] worked up a great trip that spanned across five days, and they were the best days on the trail I have ever had. The camping spots were great and the memories will last a lifetime.
