Honda rodent tape, so far. Protect your injectors at the very least. In addition to my injector wires, the little fellas got in the cabin and set up shop. The air intake under the cowl is just open, without a screen. They just chewed through the cabin air filter and were in. I cut a section of hardware cloth and fit in the intake and I think it's nuts that there is nothing there already. For more see Rodent chewed injector wire.

Get Dr Bronner’s Magic Soap-Peppermint(got my bottle at Target) and mix a little in with water and spray on pads or whatever to place in engine bay. Soap has peppermint oil in it. I also made a perimeter spray around the ground underneath my cars. Gotta “refresh” it all about once a month to keep fresh deterrent. I had issues with rats in engine bays of my other vehicles(I’ve read some mfgrs use soy-based wire insulation materials, which smells like dinner to the varmints). I only ever have issues with them in engine bays in Winter(due to colder temps, I assume).

at the end of the day if it's cold enough or the rodent is hungry enough nothing will stop it. a warm engine bay is very welcoming and it comes with tastey soy wiring as a snack. I live hear a forest, all sorts of critters nearby. during winter I find footprints in the snow from who knows what. but never any rodents in my engine bay at my house and I don't use any deterrents
the only time I had a rodent chew my injector wires was when I parked at a train station for a day interestingly enough. it was an extremely cold day and the rodent was probably in the right place at the right time. my 4runner still made it home with 2 cylinders misfiring but it was a struggle. I had to put it in P at stoplights or it would want to stall. these things are definitely over built and under stressed for most of their lives which is why they last so long
