Rolling Thunder Grill Mod

After researching and looking online for a while for a grill for my 4Runner, I found the

JAOS Grill
http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=4run_jbillet_99-02
looks great but way too expensive for me just for a grill

the Burtman Industries Billet grill and shell
http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=4run_tbilet_99_02_f
another nice billet grill but too expensive also

Then I found the T-Rex Billet grill and shell
http://www.go-fast-parts.com/600717.html
Very nice also I thought about getting this one

Then I decided to make my own I went on Ebay
http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsaintsurfer25
and bought a mesh grill made for a 04-08 4Runner and I modified it to the grill of my year 4Runner 99-02

The stock grill is held in place by 6 clips, I then used the steel wire that the seller sent with the mesh overlay pieces to attach it to my stock grill, I used my dremel tool to cut small slits in the grill from behind to help the wire

RTGM alternative --> Chichi Grill Mod

I did a poor job documenting this mod, I can try my best to describe the steps. This Mod was done on a 3rd gen 99 T4R, I beleive other 3gen T4Rs have different grills.
1-Removed the grill.
2-Saw off the existing vent fins to expose larger gap in grill (saw off the black plastic located inbetween crome).
3-Form the gutter mesh to fit exposed gap in grill, use 2x4 and rubber malet or just your had to form mesh to fit in gap.
4-After mesh is formed and cut to fit gap, paint them your favorite color.
5-Use small self-taping screws to hold mesh onto grill. I used 4 screws and also bent the mesh from inside (back of grill) to hold mesh in place.

I intend on buying a black grill, I did this mod on my existing grill because it needed to be replaced. Grill was messed up and attached with tie-wraps. So ultimatly, I'll have a backup grill besides my new 'black' grill.
