Your VW problem sounds fishy to me, entirely plausible, but fishy. Though Ive encountered some real strange VW engine problems.

As for the 4Runner, I think from the bottom is the way to go for access. Should be pretty easy up on the lift. Id be happy to help. I can't on the 27th though. Going on a few brewery tours with my dad for his birthday on Sunday. You certainly have the idea! :beer: :beer:

I could swing it this weekend if your schedule works. I wouldn't want to push you back 2 weeks staring at that annoying blinking light. It would drive me crazy! Tomorrow would work, around noon maybe?

Changed rear diff and TC oil today. I pulled maybe a quart of disgusting-looking, probably original oil out of the rear diff. I put I think just over 2qt back in.

Tackled this lil bugger today. The grommet was in there good. I managed to not drop any into the valve cover.

On a hunch, I pulled my driver carpet to check for moisture on the floorboard from the most recent rain (truck wasn't driven in it) and as I suspected, the padding was damp. All 4 sunroof drains are open. The weatherstripping around the driver stood is deteriorating, and I know I have rust on the windshield frame. I suspect water is coming in through the frame, but I want to know if the weatherstripping is a more likely culprit? Doubtful, but worth asking. I don't see any sign of aftermarket wiring going through the firewall. Next is the hose and paper towel test.

Think I found it. The hood latch hat at the firewall grommet looked to be seated no more. Fixed it. Hopefully that fixes the leak.

Today, with the help of [MENTION=134269]suppra87[/MENTION], the following was done.

Starter rebuilt. I don't know how this thing was starting at all.

Plunger (not pictured) was replaced also.

Front diff fluid change.

Fuel filter changed. Tim noticed that I had a fuel leak, so he rebuilt the fuel line.

One coil spacer installed on the driver rear coil. This was done to fix the Yota lean. Perfectly leveled out the ride with a full tank.

Oh, and if you haven't looked at it in a while, check the top side of your skid plates. Scraped off a few pounds of grime.

If you're anywhere even remotely close to Annapolis, go see Tim if you need some work done. Great guy who knows what he's doing.

Had a buddy do some body work. Removed the rear corner dents in preparation for dipping next week.

Now just to figure out how to fix this without replacing the cover. I realize there is no fix, but I at least want to make it flat enough to be less noticeable after dipping.

All finished. So glad to get rid of that scratched and fading bright silver.

Newbie mistake.

While no one will confuse this with a professional paint job, it's so much better than before.

Oh yea that stuff is potent. I left the garage door open. After the first few coats I started wearing a facemask, but in the future I'll heed the suggestion of wearing an actual filtered respirator.
