Roof rack with stock rails

I've tried searching google and the forum but I couldn't come across what I'm tried to look for. I'm trying to see how people mounted their roof rack basket by using the stock rails and removing the cross arms for a low profile look. Pics and how to do it would be great!

I made some brackets based off 4xinnovation bought at home depot using simpson strong tie, ubolts and 4xinnovation rail Toyota Bed Rail Accessory Hardware Kit. Took some measuring and drilling holes but I think it turned out great. Next is mocking a farm jack bracket, led bar lights and outdoor shower made of PVC pipe.

Thus slides on your existing rails. I had to cut the bolt with a cutting grinder. You may or may not have to cut the bolt depending on the brackets.

Me neither but I like the full rack and glad it worked out. I do have to fabricate 2 more brackets for the front. It's going to rest on the gutter similar to gobi or baja rack to hold the weight. Its solid but want to make sure. Also in the process of putting 32" led bar on the front bottom to fill the gap.

You can also delete the rails and have them weld brackets on the rack and use the existing stock rail holes to attach it. I think that's a cleaner look.

This kit is super rad, however, I mounted as shown and the rack was sitting on my roof. I had to end up flipping the brackets but now I can open my sunroof! I would recommend this kit to anyone, just need to paint it as it is bare when you get it:bounce:

DIY lowering bracket

I did the same thing. Had the angle irons sitting around and just trimmed the top down a bit. Used some 1/2 PVC spacers and original rack bolts. Only thing I didn't have were the stainless U-bolts. Entire thing cost me like $12.

I mounted a rack designed for Jeep on my 2005. It's not lo-profile but I have some close-up pics for ideas on how to make mounts for it.

The mounts are original pieces from Wilderness Racks since they use a bolt on slide tracks the same style as our rails for the top Jeep hardtops

Seems like when I was moving my rack I could not get these spin head bolts off my factory rails, is the a trick or do you have to slide them out the end to take them off
