Roof top cargo bag plus tent?

Hi there. Forgive me - I searched as best as I can with Taptalk, and the forum keeps giving me spam pop ups in Safari (anyone else?).

Curious to see what others might be using for cargo bag storage coupled with a RTT. I have a Gobi stealth on the way, and Yakima RTT, which doesn’t have huge footprint. I’d like to tuck a well matched cargo bag/box in front of or behind the tent. I have a trip this spring where I’d like to utilize as much roof space as possible, and a cargo bag/box seems like the way to go.

Any feedback and pics are greatly appreciated!

Take a look at roofbag (roofbag.com), I've been using their cross country version for about three years and it has held up well (including several storms).

I'm not sure about clearance w/ your rtt, but they have dimensions on third site. I run mine up front on the Gobi and have room for Rotopax and other items (half or a little more of the rack space left) with the 15cf version.

Sherpa Bag on roof

I have a "Sherpa Bag" I bought through REI a few years ago. I use it for storing light weight stuff like clothes and sleeping bags on top. It is waterproof and ties down to a rack or crossbars. Do a search for the Sherpa name to see who sells it now.

Tepuitents.com has something close to what I’m looking for - but theirs is kinda pricey, and maybe a tad too small. So far this is the closest I’ve found.

I think the other, more common bags on the market might be a bit too large to fit neatly with the tent.

Here’s the Tepui. I would only use one - especially with the price. I like how the black one fits but maybe just a tad longer. The interior pictures don’t look like it holds much.

That looks like it may work. Only one is waterproof, but its a roll up top which might make accessing it while on the roof a little tricky. Less expensive then some of the other options, too.

Rhino Rack has a waterproof one that looks decent, but $200.

I ended up ordering a few different sizes of the Sealline waterproof duffel bag.
I found them on sale for 25% off. I can’t get any air to escape when zipped and pushing down. The big thing for me was how great of a warrenty Sealline/MSR/Cascade Designs have as a company.
That and I already use there backpack/portage bags for Boundary Waters Canoeing so I already know how durable they are.

Using duffle bags makes it easier for me to get things on and off versus if I had a big storage bag up top. I hold everything down with the Raingler Gobi net.
