Roofrack corner caps making noise

Anybody else have them making a racket on the roof, I was thinking of popping them off putting a small amount of silicone in the housing then putting them back on. Didn't want to permanently glue the caps in case I ever had to remove them.

Thanks...I don't think it's the sunroof, I can easily pop the corner caps off and they do wiggle a little so I'm assuming that's the culprit.

I'll try the silicone tonight.

Are you sure it's not your sunroof? Silicone works well on the end caps.

Those caps break easy. No good way to remove. The sunroof noise 4th gens are prone to sounds like it could be roof rack noise. I would recommend trying the sunroof fix first.

Thanks for the info, what should I be looking for if it is the sunroof?

If you search for sunroof rattle you should find more info. Essentially there are metal tubes that run in a channel on each side (easy to see if you open sunroof and look down in from the roof. They metal tube rattles in the channel. Someone used rubber or plastic o-rings to make it stop. Others have used grease. I used cut pieces of rubber underneath, although I have to adjust about once a year as the rubber slides around a bit.

I also thought my corner caps were rattling and cracked a couple. I liked the sport tube style of rack anyway, and it wasn't much more to buy a new rack as the caps are really expensive. Good luck.
