Rookie question about towing - '07 Sport

I have a 2007 4Runner Sport. I just recently bought a tow rope and some D-rings so that I can pull people who are stuck (snow, mud, etc.).

The two small loops that are attached to my hitch -- are they strong enough for this task? Can I hook the D-ring directly to those loops? (picture).

If not, do I have to get a piece to fit into the hitch to attach the d-ring?

Do not pull people out using those. They are made to hook safety chains to. Get a receiver or a 4 way setup with a hook on it.

im surprised no one else responded to this but in my opinion it is not strong enough and would shear off. i would recommend tow receiver hitch with a d ring

I'm in agreement with everyone else... get yourself a D-Ring receiver type hitch and good locking bolt (if you don't want someone else enjoying it too). Get yourself a solid strap, too. I think mine is rated at like 15K lbs.

As everyone else said do it properly to avoid injury. I run Factor 55 links on my winch and rear receiver.
