Rotating Tires?

May sound like a stupid question but I never had a vehicle that the spare wheel matched. Usually was just a plain steel rim.

Question is are you doing the 5 tire rotation using the spare on the right side of the vehicle and why or why not?

I did search this topic and couldn't find anything.

Heading to the store to buy oil and start with the first oil change. Look forward to comments and suggestions before I rotate them later today.

Looks like I follow the 5 tire rotation idea.

I will follow the Toyota recommendation because I do not agree with the side to side rotation. Did it once on my Tacoma and hed problems. The front end shimmed real bad. Tried re-balance, no good. Put them back on the originail sides and all was good.

I swap front to rear on each side, never use the spare unless it's really needed as in a flat tire.

There's so many variables... What tires do you have? How many miles on them?

I totally agree with you, there are times and situations when changing the direction of a tire can cause problems but overall I prefer to change direction of rotation to get the most even wear possible. I have the Michelin CT's and I've been changing the direction of rotation with no problems.

If you rotate 3 tires on one side of the vehicle I am assuming you'll do that on the pass side as the RR tire drives the hardest and that's the side that hits the deepest puddles, right?

I use the 5-tire rotation variation recommended by Bridgestone on their site instead of the Toyota version, and haven't had a problem with switching rotation direction. Over 64k and not a problem.

Original tires, 5000 miles and yes rotating 3 on the right.

When I took my spare down, I didn't like the indentations left from where the tire hits the frame/brackets underneath. At first I thought it had actually rubbed away the rubber but after looking it was just indentions. They are still there now. Hope they go away some.

Spell check is a great thing. Wish this had one!
