I use this oil. Analysis of used oil shows great results

Use whatever you want. These engines are very forgiving when it comes to oil.

It is a GREAT oil for engines. May not be the best for (gas engine) catalytic converters (thought it was rated for gas engines for a while while regulations allowed it). I have run it on multiple cars for many years with 0 problems.

Does anybody know if the Rotella T6 is still ok to run in gas engines? It doesn’t have the SN rating anymore

I used to own a Duramax, I ran T6 in it and it is great oil. I have a Malibu Ski boat with a chevy 350 in it that called for 15w-40, I live in CA with a mild climate so I ran T6 in that as well. I recently switched the boat to Delo Synthetic diesel oil that met the SN Rating.
If you want to run a diesel oil in your 4runner, I would use this stuff: Delo 400 XSP 5W-40 Heavy Duty Engine Oil | Chevron Lubricants
That being said, I have 283k of rather hard miles on my 4runner and I run standard Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic that you can get it on sale at walmart for ~$20 with rebates. I change my oil anywhere from 3-7k miles. I have not had any issues and it doesn't burn a drop.
I hate to turn this into a "whats the best oil" thread because that one has been beat the death to many times. I would recommended just choosing a quality synthetic 5w-30 oil and change it around 5k miles. Should you send an oil sample in to get checked? Sure. Can you push it on a longer interval? Sure. Do you need to do any of that? No, I change my oil for ~$30-$35 every 5k-ish miles it is cheap enough not to make a big deal of it and I don't think twice about it. Keep it simple and run what Toyota recommends.

The motor sure doesn't care yet I'm not 100% certain the cats don't.
Anyone know Definitively?
Until then I only use T6 in non-cat engines, they all love it! :cowboy:

I'm with you. Especially on the persnickety Cali. systems, I would not want to touch anything that might compromise cat function. I have enough issues with P0420 as it is.
I use Dino Rotella 15W-40 in my non-cat engines. They do fine with it. I have to change tractor oil because of condensation long before it wears out, so why spend money on synthetic? A 50 year old cast iron engine (like my Farmall 140) really could not care less about synthetic.

Depends on how you work it, Lol. Audi takes 9 qt leaves me with a qt for mower.
Runner takes 6 qt leaves you with 2 qt for next change with gal jugs.
You right 5VZ don't care, all about the warm fuzzy feeling we all get using what we like.

My BMW V8 takes eight quarts and loves diesel oil. Rotella T6 is all it gets.

I hear ya, Audi 4.2 OE is Motul that chit $9.00/qt went that route once while under warranty.

It is still the same formulation as when it had the SN rating. It was a law change that forced the removal of the SN rating. Been running it in all my vehicles (turbo Subarus and turbo/non-turbo Toyotas) for many years with no issues with the cats.
My Camry with a JDM 3s-gte and a small single high-flow cat still passes tailpipe emissions requirements after years of Rotella T6.
I like it due to the lower oil usage in my turbo cars and the internal engine cleaning for all my engines. There are still many other oils to choose from though...
