RotoPax - Troubleshooting

To make a long story short, I have a defective RotoPax 3 Gallon Gasoline container that I need to fix. I'm not exactly sure how to fix it and I was hoping to tap into the combined knowledge of the 4Runner collective for ideas.

I have attached photos, but if you can see the small hole in the circled area (near the right side of the close up picture beneath the manufacturers stamp). I need to fix that hole or buy another $70 RotoPax.

Does anybody have any ideas? Would heating up the plastic and melt-welding it work?

I would use ither a 2 part epoxy from somewhere that sells boat supplies. I know that sounds weird but I've used it to seal many of things. If not that I would drill the hole bigger and then thread the hole and use a nylon or softer meatle bolt with an oring seal on the end of it.

I think i would try to contact the manufacturer and pick there brain a little, see what they recommend. I would not want a leak unexspectedly.

Not weird at all. That was one of the things I was thinking about doing, but I was worried about the durability/flexibility. I don't want my fuel reserves to spring a leak . . .

I've been on the phone with the retailer countless times, but I have not yet tried to call RotoPax. Heck, they may even send me a new one like the the retailer should have done . . .

I'd return that sucker. The heat stamping they did on that area might have affected the entire stamp. That whole area looks brittle to me and yeah, the thought of gasoline pouring out all over your truck is not that cool.
