Rotor Change

Hey Guys/Girls.....

I am having some trouble with my rotors I believe. On the highway doing 70-75, when I brake I get a serious vibration from the wheels. I have figured out that it is my rotors... but have any of you had the same problems?

If you have, did you get them machined? or just brand new ones?

Thanks

Either choice is good

If you have a lot of miles on the truck, it may be time to get the rotors turned. They only need to overheat a few times to get warped, or heat up when the lug nuts are overtorqued.

For the age of your truck (1999), you may get new rotors for less than you think. I did 4 rotors (disc) on a sedan after 5 years, and the were $128 for all 4. Pretty cheap. Plus pads, and it only cost about $190 to do it myself.

Where should I purchase the rotors from?

Auto Zone, NAPA , Car Quest, Pep Boys, list goes on. I would think that if aftermarket rotors are available (1999 model year vehicle is 5-6 years old), any auto parts/supply store would either have them or be able to get them. The dealership will always be more expensive.

If you have 4 wheel disc brakes the rear rotors will cost MORE than the front, because they actually will have a drum brake as well for the parking brakes. Which also means 2 types of pads for rear wheels with disc brakes.
