Rough Country or Fabtech 6" Lifts

Quick question (I know it has been discussed but can't find anything specific); can either one of these lifts, preferably the rough country, be installed on my 06 4R? I only ask because on the Overland Warehouse site it says that their kits will fit the 03-09 4R and the 07-09 FJ. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

I dont know dude, i test drove an 07 fj today with the wife. it had the RC suspension on it. Drove over some speedbumps at moderate speed (15 mph or so) the front feels great, the back goes KA KLUNK! You feel it clunk on two rebounds sounds and feels like total crap! I dont know if it will fit our trucks, and secondly since the FJ is heavier it would not ride good with our lighter trucks.

you can save yourself about a grand if you purchased it off ebay they are right around 1400.00-1600.00 plus shipping.

The 6" lifts would ride much better if you upgraded the coilovers and shocks with radflo or icons specifically made for those lifts. Still not a fan though of the higher center of gravity but that may not be a issue for the type of wheeling you do

I don't know that the higher center of gravity would be that much worse with a 6" lift than a 3" lift with a 1.5" Body Lift both on 35's. Plus the higher the "center of gravity" or the more ground clearance you have is better for all offroading. Unless you have rock crawling jeep that has no fenders and big tires.

Like I said it all depends on the kind of wheeling you do. More of a reason to upgrade the coilovers on the 6" lifts to help control the higher ride heigt. Also you don't gain that much clearance with the 6" since the front diff gets dropped about 2 to 3" . I think you're limited on skids too. Not trying to knock those lifts, I've gone on runs with them and they did well, they look bad arse too, although I've never seen a 4R with one. I bet it'd look sic.

Yea I figured they were probably not a great ride basically because you spend $1100-$1600 compared to $1825 for a 3" lift that everyone swears by. I was really just wondering how it would work on our trucks. Thanks for the info!

I saw this a while back... AlexJet used a customized 6" FabTech lift to gain a total of 7". Hit him up if your interested.

Ground clearance and CG don't have anything in common.

I have a few friends that go to AU tell me they seen your 4runner out and about. They are trying to get me to come down there lol. I have 5" suspension bilstein 5100 adjustable set on 2.5" lift. 2.5" leveling spacer. = 5" up front. 2" lift springs in rear w/ 1.5" rear spacer. Icon rear shocks 3.5" rear lift. 1" toytec BL. Running 315/75/16 Mickey Thompson MTZ's. Great ride. Sits level. Would do it again but next time personally I would use coilovers along with the spacer up top. They say its not good to stack lifts. but I have had mine lifted for a good 15k miles no problems what so ever. Several trips to PCB. Ttown. ATL. If you want anymore info just give me a holler.
