Rough Shift/Lurch from Park to Drive

If it’s still on higher idle try turning the wheel a little before shifting which puts torque on the engine from the power steering and drops rpm somewhat.

In the winter (sub zero temps) turn the fan speed control off prior to shifting it may also scrub off a couple hundred rpm that way. If the fan is cranked idle stays up until the motor is fully at operating temp. Those are my tricks to manage driveline lunge.

And yeah, I slide under there for the annual zerk grease LoL.

I also have this issue with my 2023 TRD Off-Road that I got it at the beginning of April. It only occurs in P,N,R to D, P to R works fine. It's very noticeable during cold start, but becomes less after driving for a while.

Toyota’s 1GR will high idle above 1000 RPM for almost 10 minutes at cold start. Most cars drop to 700 or so after about 60 seconds.

I think they want the 0w20 oil at FULL operating temp before you take off. This WILL cause bucking from park into any other gear on even a brand new vehicle.
