RS3200 Question

Ah, that means you have the often talked about but rarely seen OEM alarm system. Yours does not have the GBS nor the starter kill circuit but it does have a third horn and a hood trigger. You can find the third horn in your engine bay. It should be sitting above the passenger fender well between the body panel and the air filter box.

As far as I know, the GBS unit is not available as an add-on to the factory alarm.

Nope. I've got the following:

No GBS
Yes Starter Kill
No third horn
Yes Horns and lights flash when locked door is opened from inside.

Interesting huh...

Well, I'm not going to complain. It works!

So there was just a wire dangling where the third horn is supposed to be? Also, what about the hood trigger, does that work?

As for the starter kill, how did you verify that? All 4th gens use the "chippped" keys so they won't turn over without the key anyhow.

Ok,

1) No wire at all. The alarm sound came from the front horns.

2) I don't have the hood trigger.

3) You raise a good point, I'll need to try a few more tests on the starter kill. However, with only a properly programmed key, how will I be able to test it?

I just noticed that the 04 brochure is a bit confusing with respect to the available alarms.

If you look at the wiring diagrams, there is only 1 type of factory alarm and it has the third horn and hood switch. My guess is Toyota either changed the specs on the factory alarm or the wiring manual is wrong. Though I can tell you for sure my truck didn't come with the alarm and DO have the dangling wire where the third horn would go. IIRC, I also have the wiring for the hood trigger, but not the trigger itself.

Help!!! ‘06 4Runner

Help!!! I don’t where to look!!!! I’m new to this stuff.
A few days ago after my husband had driven my 4Runner while his was in the shop, he gave me my keys back and now my lights don’t flash, and my truck won’t “beep” when locking the doors, but will flash and beep when unlocking the doors. I know the doors are locking because I can hear it, but have also tried to open the doors after hitting the lock button.
I work a night shift and being able to hear my vehicle and see the flashing lights when locking it up to start my shift gives me a great sense of security which is now dwindling. I’m ready to take it to the dealership because I’m so novice to this stuff, but it costs me $100 just to drive up. Everything is damn expensive where the Army has us stationed right now and I’m trying tit show my husband that I can fix something with my vehicle correctly w/o going to the dealership here.
