RSG angled slider trimming

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on the RSG angled sliders, and noticed on their page it says minor trimming may be required to clear the rear door. Anyone have any experience with this? Trying to get an idea what they are talking about.

Think this is more of an issue on the 06+ with the slight body style change that the body cladding on the rear door comes down a bit farther. Was an issue on the first runs of the RCI sliders from what I understand, but some design changes were made since the initial release.

I have an '07 limited, which is why I am concerned.

I emailed them and they said it required trimming on the plastic on the bottom of the rear doors. Just trying to figure out how much. Based on the shape of the doors it could be significant...

I can't say anything for the 4th gen version, but when I had my 5th gen I put RSG angled sliders on it and the mounting plates allowed for adjustment up and down. Now the 4th gen may be different, but it seems like an easy job to me. Trimming the plastic a little shouldn't affect anything.

Gimli, I bought a set of sliders from RSG in the summer of '18 without any knowledge of their weird "trimming" warning.

After mounting the right slider, to my surprise, the rear door could not be opened more than a few inches. The interference had nothing to do with the plastic cladding on the door. The slider was angled too high for the door itself. I would have had to "trim away" a large chunk of the steel door, leaving a hole about the size of a pack of smokes in the door!:wtf:

I exchanged the sliders for a set they built flat with no angle whatsoever. Although the replacement sliders stick out quite a bit more than I wanted, they've worked out great and protected my truck from several boulders and stumps last summer.

The steel is thick and the whole slider feels beefy. When installing the set, I got the sense that it was quite a bit heavier than what was listed on their website, which is good, as far as I'm concerned.

The only downside to a flat RSG slider is that my leg always rubs it when exiting the truck. There's always a clean spot on the slider under the driver's door. If you can live with that, ask them to build you a flat set.

I’m not sure what the price difference is but I have White Knuckle Off-Road sliders and they clear the back door by like an inch on my 08. Very precise! Pics for fun.

Thanks for the info, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for (and what I was afraid of). Looks like I'm ordering a flat set.

I love the design on the RSG sliders, which is why I was looking at it. Plus with their relatively reasonable shipping and the 100 off coupon, they are one of the more reasonable options for me.

Wish they would make a 8-10 degree angled version which would clear the door, but you can't win them all.

kick out or no kickout

When people talk about trimming the doors for the angled RSG sliders are you talking about the model with the kickout in the back? I talked to RSG and they said the straightsided angled sliders shouldn't be a problem on the 4th gen.
