Rubber coating applied

Well I got bored again the other day and decided to spray the cargo area of the runner with some rubber coating. It deadend the sound a bit but not enough for a "holy cow" moment. Looks good and for under $8, cant go wrong. No smell after about 12hours and is completly dry. Carpet is back in and all is well. Not a performance issue by any means but it passed a few hours during the day.

You think this will do a better job than dynomat? Or is this just a cheaper option instead of paying $100 for a bulk roll? $8 isn't bad at all, as long as you don't have to remove it, haha. Then it wouldn't have been worth your time!

I would like to get the Dynamat but for the time, I think the rubber coating will do the trick. My main goal was to water proof as much as I could the cargo flooring and hope to get a bit of sound dampening aswell. My kids are a mess at times. If I had the extra 100 bucks then yes, I would go for the dynamat or even have some line-x put in. This was an easy "mod", if you want to call it a mod and for the money, it looks 10 times better than it did before.
Just make sure you put a big enough fan in the back seat to blow out the spray dust when you are doing this to cut down on the over spray or you could even drape a cloth of sorts to seperate the cargo from the rest of the inside.

Oh yea, Airforce all the way. Are you in the service? If you aren't, then yeah, you can't go there, haha. If you are, then my hats off to you because I joined the AF for very specific reasons. I've just came back from a joint deployment and all I can say is wow.

I want to dynamat my trunk area although my stealthbox isn't the biggest baddest box around. Maybe it'll help with the aggressive tires and the noise it emits. Someone on the forum spray lined their fenderwells and they said it helped alot. That spray stuff is definitely messy, what is line-x?

Well, I am a Vet and proud to be one. Glad to hear there are more around here. I was an E5 in the Navy stationed on the USS FLETCHER DD992 out of Pearl Harbor. She now sits in Davey Jones Locker but could launch a mean misslie.

I did a bedliner on my 1999 and it made it a little louder than before. I will say that on the 3rd gen there is no sound insulation behind the plastic only on the wheel wells. I imagine the rubber spray would be better for sound deading than bedliner. Also, the reason I did herculiner rather than line-x was due to cost. My friend line-x'd his jeep, he did all the prep and still shelled out 650. I bet the cargo area of a runner would be about 400 or so.

Good deal... I'm a E6 (select) and my most recently deployment was working for a Chief which, in turn, both worked for the army. Working with the army and marines was an experience in itself, haha. We couldn't but help shake our heads about have the stuff they had us do or the reason for doing it.

back on topic, yea I plan to deaden my body just so I can quiet my ride up more. I love the sound (or there lack of) of a solid, quiet ride that doesn't have rattle,etc.
