runnerC2's 91 T4R 3.0- new 4runner PICS and questions.

Alright guys here is my 1st 4runner!! I started a thread on it when I first joined but deleted it to make a better thread. I have some new/better pics and some issues to work out. Also, I'll use the search function for some of my questions, but I still wanted to ask them in this thread so I could have pictures to show what I'm talking about.

It is a 91 3.0 with 220k on the truck and about 140k on the motor. Got it with a blown head gasket. Some of you have read that my brother and I tackled the head gasket ourselves and weren't so successful. Then I have been fighting the shop for 6 weeks to get it fixed. I finally got it back Friday afternoon and drove it for awhile until it started leaking antifreeze. So here we are.

Here is a pic of the awesome bumper I have now and also a FREEBIE I picked up from the guy who my brother bought his 93 pickup from. It is a 2wd bumper but I'm going to make it work. Just have to get some brackets. Also, he has a spare set of heads I am going to get.

Here is a couple of pictures of some plugs that don't have mates. They are on the passenger side engine compartment. Anybody know where they go or if they are important?

Also I don't have an antenna? I'm wanting to say these are automatic, correct? What does it take to replace one of these?

These things have got to go, but how do I get that sticky stuff off?

Rust over the rear wheels. Will removing that chrome stuff slow down that process at all?

And the grand finale. The antifreeze is leaking somewhere on top of the motor. I can see it gathering on top of the intake on the drivers side, and it is running down and dripping off of the transmission (pic). But I can't find the source of the leak. Any ideas?

If it was my truck I would fix the coolant leak then tackle that fender rust issue before replacing the wheels.

i would say coolant leak is from heater core or heater core lines possibly the heater control valve im not sure if the 2nd gen has one of those.

AS far as the plug its very important its the EGR i think by looking at the picture.

ok it's also blowing a little white smoke. oil looks fine. intake gasket?

Nice 4Runner, well the little plug appears to be some type of diagnosis plug, my 88 has the same one, and it isn't connected to anything, and it runs fine. The large plug off of the EGR valve baffles me, my 88 doesn't have that. And your leak sounds like a loose intake, or bad bad gasket, hopefully it is that simple. -Good Luck-

I have the exact same vehicle and the antennae is fixed - not a power antennae, and it just screws into the socket.

The plug mate comes out of the plastic chaseway that runs over the top front of the intake manifold...on mine.

Can you hear the antenna motor running when you turn the radio on or off?
I got my new antenna from here. Five minute fix on mine for around $25.

Everyone else Thank you for posting. I hear some sort of motor running right after I turn the vehicle off, which I thought might be the antenna motor. Not sure though

90 t4r, check the weathertech.com web site. I have a 2005 Passat TDI wagon with these same mats and they were made by them.

DONE! Pulled that trim off and found some NASTY rust on the back. Next major project.

Also, replaced the power antenna with a fixed one for $10. Well that actual antenna came from BassPro. Got some new steel wheels today and I am loving them so far.

i have almost the same wheels on my 93.. very nice. tho i also have the coolant leak after a top end rebuild.. was it the intake manifold gasket? i havent been able to really check it out. i will tmrw tho

No it ended up being a small hose somewhere near the back of the motor. I'm not sure where because I took it to the shop after I couldn't find it, but they didn't charge me anything so it couldn't have been that hard.

Mine was doing the same thing, it was that "u" shaped hose on the back of the manifold.

that U seemed fine when i put the Bi*** back together (never again :ybrick: ) but ill check it out. i had a bad loss of power and it stated dying when id touch the gas.. so i think its the manifold.
