I just bought a 1995 4runner and was driving it to work and the radiator cracked. When I replaced the radiator I noticed that the coolent was brown with a ton of rust and crap. I flushed the system completely and replaced the thermostat (180 degree Failsafe), refilled and got all of the air out of the system. Today while driving home I noticed that it was running a little hot so I pulled over to make sure I didn't have any leaks and make sure fluid levels were good. Nothing was obiously wrong so I just drove a little slower up hills and made it home fine. Once I got home I opened the radiator cap and noticed a thin residue of rust like material and I am assuming that there was still some junk in the system. Is there any way to thoroughly get all of this crap out and would this cause it to run a little hotter. I have already taken off all off the upper and lower radiator hoses and flushed them out and even disconnected the heated core to flush it out. Should I go get an additive to flush the system. Also the water pump isnt leaking and there are no leaks.
