Running Board Identification

I have a 1999 SR5 that I put into a snow bank. The only damage done was cosmetic, including tearing the front end cap off of the running board.

I'm seeing there is a difference in part numbers, depending on whether the running boards were factory installed or dealer installed.

Can someone provide some insight as to how I can tell which running boards I have, dealer or factory? Thank you.

Are you trying to get replacement parts through the dealer?

If you need replacement parts just post a WTB thread here. Plenty of members would sell you their running boards for next to nothing.

Thank you for the reply. I'm just trying to put together an estimate to get everything replaced. The running board is fine, I just need to replace the endcap, but I don't know which one to buy or post on WTB.

Sr5 and limited models had different running boards.
So it probably depends on the year and model of your truck.

The 4runner is a 1999 SR5. The parts suppliers I have looked at want you to specify whether the running boards are factory or dealer, even on the same model(SR5), and same year.

Sounds like the running boards are NOT very desirable, but I need them for medical reasons. The end caps keep a lot of crap from getting thrown onto the side of the body.

Depends on the flares, too. '99SR5s could have more than type, and the endcaps are different.

Mine has just the chrome/rubber trim, no real flare. Is that what you (OP) have?

Thank you, guys. I will try to post some pics this afternoon sometime. There were two types of fender flares. I think the limited has thicker flares, while my SR5 has a small flare.

Listed below are some pictures of the fender flare and running board endcap. The parts I need a source for are circled in red.

Those are known on here as 'skinny SR5 flares' which should help in your searches. You should be able to find somebody selling the running board end cap more easily than that single section of flare. They should be compatible across multiple models - if you get both together, they should work just fine with each other (maybe pick-a-part junkyards for that?).

I will probably be taking my end caps off my factory running boards. Mine is a 96...so PM me if interested if I take them off.
