running board lights

I'm looking for the electrical dudes out there. I have stock black running boards. I want more light then the limited boards give you, so I want to do my own mod. I just want 5 or 6 small lights (like the ones on the limited) that span across the lenght of the running board.

First, has anyone done this?
Second, can this be incorporated into the dome lights so they turn on as normal running board lights turn on?

Had the same idea - yet to act on it. You could use some running lights that they put on the top of trucks. Or any small light that size, like the small add on trun signals lights. the RB's have a lip that closes the gap between the bottom of the door and the RB you could drill into that. I bet the hole is 1/2 inch or so. Just so you could run a bolt and wire. I bet you could run it off the parking light of the head lights so when they are on your running lights come on.

I want more of an alley light - to throw light to the side of the truck. I was thinking of adding some cheep oval fog lights that are the same height as the gap from the RB to the rocker and just control them with a switch. I was not sure how well it would project to the side due to the RB. I had some $12.00 farm utility lights (black rubber housing) attached to the frame of my old rig and they worked great - but I did not have RBs
