Running board removal?

So I've done a little searching without much luck... I've got a 98 SR5 with the factory flares / running boards. Does anyone have a pic of what this set up would look like without the running boards? Anything I would need to do to the stock flares to make it look "clean"?

Here is mine. If you look at my build, you will see more pictures of it. I have added a temporary brush guard and tube rear bumper but you can get the point.

I have a bit different set up on my truck though... My running boards mate up differently with my front flare (goes up a bit higher) and I'm concerned that just taking off the step will make the front flare end "abruptly"

Here's what I did...I took the running boards off and cut the plastic piece off the running board and screwed it in place to fill in the gap your talking about. I just used some thin metal to support the mud flap. I guess OEM mudflaps are crazy expensive and hard to find. This was free and it works great in my opinion.
