Running boards - buy off ebay?

Nglayton, thanks for the buying location recommends.

Was sort of getting excited about installing myself till Desert Canyon started talking about KDSS lines. Uh....is that just with sliders or running boards too? Since I have a Trail I have KDSS.

I think that is just for sliders......but I've never looked into sliders, because I just don't like how stupid they look. :crazy: and I don't use my runner in a way that would ever require them. Even if I did, I doubt I could ever 'get over' the looks.

I also have KDSS and with OEM running boards there is nothing to adjust or worry about. They just bolt right up.

Good to see you pulled the trigger on a set. FYI, The pattern on my running boards does match the pattern on the rear bumper.

FYI for posterity. The boards I got do not have the pattern that matches the rear bumper, i.e. the pattern I would assume be on running boards that come with the vehicle.

I took the box as it came to a body place that installed them for 39.00. Didn't see them till after they were on because I knew I wasn't going to deal with sending them back no matter what they looked like.

The guy came in while I was waiting and asked if I wanted the box or anything, I said no, how do they look do they look like Toyota parts? He said yes, paperwork said Toyota. Guess I don't really understand the whole OEM thing.

They seem sturdy and good quality so while disappointed they don't look original I'll live. I am disappointed they don't really help that much getting in and out honestly. Out is what I was most concerned about. Guess I'm short with big feet. Once you put your foot on the board, its not like can actually stand up. So yea. Mostly good for protecting from idiots opening their car doors and grocery store carts.

Now onto roof rails.

Guess I don't really understand the whole OEM thing.

What I discovered when I went searching for boards from Toyota dealers(early 2014) was that different brand/part numbers are used by the different distribution centers..ie..Gulf States Houston Tx & Southeast Toyota Dist - Jacksonville Fla. There are other dist. sites.
The 2 I mention above carried different part numbers and the price was also WAY different. SE Dist was a couple of hundred $$$ less than Gulf States.
So...as far as running boards go - different "OE numbers" in different parts of the country. That's how it was 3+ years ago.

Running boards

I have a set of OEM Running Boards that are on my 2015 TRD Pro and I am going to take them off and sell them if anyone is interested. I have about 15,000 miles on the truck and I will include all of the hardware.

Trying to save some money on buying running boards. Thought I had some off craigslist lined up but that fell through. (I posted some about this before, sorry for the rethread)
No one on here selling near Ohio.

So....dealer wants 549.00 plus tax + plus installation is 790 "out the door" Thats for the SR5 ones whatever that means. Dang.

These look like the "real" pattern I've seen?
They are all black, free shipping. Not sure what the tax would be. I've bought other stuff off ebay but nothing like this.

Any known pitfalls here? There is one 2 star review complaining about cheap plastic and 1 5 star review.

I think my mechanic will install for 100.00 vs. the 150?
