running boards

i have a '99 4runner limited and im looking to take off the running boards and get some black sliders. does anyone know what kind of sliders are good quality/price? if anyone could post some pictures of how to detach the running boards that would be much appreciated.

You should be able to look under the 4runner and see where the running boards attatch. I believe it is six bolts per side. They require a 13mm socket to take off.
 
I just removed mine on a '99 SR5. It's actually 4 bolts and 2 nuts per side. The nuts go on studs built in to the board hangers--I think it's the front pair on each side. An overnight soak with PB blaster was needed after nine years in a salt-happy state. Once you are on your back under there it's pretty clear what you need to do.
 
I had sliders custom built, but most go with stubs sliders. It depends on if you want to use them as sliders, or if you want them for the look. If you are just after the look, grab a pair of black nerf bars and your set. If you want to drop the entire weight of your 4Runner on them...spend enough to get good ones. I have attached a photo of mine, I know someone else on the board was building a set that matched mine, I gave them the dimensions but I don't know if they ever did it. Mine ended up costing me about $150 in raw material.
