Running lights come on when I start the engine

Just curious if you guys are running into this same symptom as well or if it is an effect of an aftermarket alarm that is installed on my 2008 Sport. When I start the engine, the running lights automatically come on. Anyone else have the same thing happen to them?

I just got the 4runner yesterday so I'm still learning all the in's and out's of it.

Are you talking about the daytime running lights?

If you're talking about the orange lights in the corner of the headlights, those are your DRLs.

Quite normal.

If it's just the front ones, and not the running lights in the rear, then completely normal. 4Runners are equipped with daytime running lights, which are the amber marker lights up front.

The DRL's can be turned on or off by the dealer. My first 4th gen had them on. My current one does not.

Yep, those would be the ones. I wasn't sure if they were suppose to come on or not every time the engine was started.

Are u sure your not getting confuse with parking light and drl?
