I've got a 97 4runner with the 4 cylinder engine and 106k miles on it. I've always thought it was slow, but didn't think anything of it till I looked up how fast it was supposed to be- 0 to 60 in 9.2 secs. I tried it and it took about 13 secs to get up to 60. Its getting normal gas mileage, about 17 city/21 highway. I got it at 83k miles and I've just been trusting the maintenance to my dad- I think all he's done is oil changes and air filiter. After looking at this forum, it looks like it might need new spark plugs or a fuel filter. What do ya'll think? Thanks.

Well, the truck is almost ten years old so getting close to the 0-60 time may be more challenging. If you're at 106k miles, there are many preventative maintenance items you can do like a fuel filter, new plugs, maybe new wires, clean the maf, maybe an 02 sensor, timing belt, water pump. The list goes on...
As far as performance, do you still have stock everything else including suspension and tires. If you've gone bigger or your suspension is worn, this can affect speed performance.

also did you take it to a track and run it or did you time it off your watch if it was by your watch then I say no more........................... plus those times are done by pro's not a everyday joe.
I am sure the times would by better by a pro at the track.
