Running speaker wire

How difficult is it to run new speaker wire to the front doors? Can you tape the new wire to the old and pull it through? The wire will be coming from an amp under the driver's seat - do I have to bring the wire all the way back to the HU from the doors and then down to the amp?

If anybody has done this, I would appreciate any ideas/help.

That could be an easy way assuming there are no sharp edges and turns that can cut the wire, or fray the plastic sheath and expose the wires. You can try that and if it gets hard to pull then something is causing too much friction and I would stop and back track.. if it flows through smoothly then you should have nothing to worry about.

Never did this but I think it might work for you... run the speaker wires from the amp under the driver's seat carpet to wire chase under the door sill (when you pop off the door sill run the speaker wires along with OE wires). Run it from there towards the kick panel, find the OE speaker wires, cut them and splice the amp speaker wires to them... should work?

Thanks for the replies. I'm adding an amp and new speakers, so I wanted to upgrade the speaker wires. I think I might try going under the carpet.
