my 95 4Runner has some serious rust! frame and suspension!!! Just got it a week ago and I really want to fix her up so I can go wheeling!! any suggestions??????
Old Toyotas came factory pre-rusted as a "feature".
Welcome to the world of an old Toyota. Engine runs forever, body and frame rust out (without proper care). If the frame is anything more than light surface rust, there's not a lot you can do.
Yeah, my 83 had the factory rust package. I ended up replacing the frame, then the cab and bed.
If it's not too bad you can weld some plates over the bad areas to strengthen it.
Tell me about replacing your frame... What did you use, and how did you prevent the new one from rusting?
I live in Wisconsin, and just saw a perfect fender become a 10"x3" hole in less than 8 months. I don't want to blow the budget on something like that without knowing it won't happen again.
I have an 89 that I picked up yesterday that has rusted through in the usual spots. The frame is still good just a little surface rust. I have found replacement fenders for the front but I can not find replacement sheet metal for the rear fender wells. Do they even make them, and if so where can I find it?
