rust!!!

I live in buffalo ny where the winters are harsh and salt is used on a daily basis.I have some rust starting to come in and bubble up around the rear window.It is very noticable becasue its a white truck.Sould I take it to body shop now?should a wait for winter to end?Is there some way i can at least cover it so it doesnt get worse while I save some money?

The sooner the better with rust, if you get it done now, all the shop has to do is sand, prime and paint, if you wait they will have to do more work to get the rust out and in turn will cost more money, if you wait too long they will have to cut the section out and put a new piece of metal in and blend it, then sand and paint. So the sooner the better, it will be cheaper that way.

To help prevent this from happening again, wash the truck frequently in the winter, like once a week, it will keep the paint in good niche and you wont have to worry about the salt getting in there.

But i would think about replacing the rear window seal if you are getting rust there, thats just what i would do.

I had this happen to my CR-V around the wheel well. The unfortunate thing was that it came from the inside. I'd get a rust treatment sprayed inside the panels and get that repair done on this right away.

merry christmas 4runner lovers :infidel: I will have it looked at asap.hey john I try to get my truck washed every week or two in the winter,im going to try and do it weekly.I seem to have ALOT of tiny spots of rust coming in from all different areas but the rear hatch window is by far the worst.I will look into having seal replaced,if it isnt too much more of an expense.I will be getting quotes within the next weeks and will update.
