Rusted and frozen Lower control arm help

Me personally speaking from experience, just sawzall it out. If they're frozen and not budging, then that's the only way to go. I've tackled mine with heat & air hammer, BFH, etc. and had no luck.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Sawzall it is. I m sure it will take some time to cut throught that bolt.

Sawzall sucks balls, takes way too long to cut through. I used a 6" cut off wheel on a 4.5" angle grinder. Yes, this is SUPER unsafe but it took a whopping 2 min to cut those f'ing things off. Wear your PPE, have a cooler full of ice if you chop your finger off and need to take it to the hospital!!

Since nobody asked, why is this rig on a floor jack when there's a 2 post hoist available?

how unsafe:frisky: I really need my fingers intact to be able to do my profession. I like quick.

thats only temporary until the lca bushings/ lower ball joint wear out. either way at some point you will have to touch them again.

aftermarket actually works fine. thats what i have for a few months now.

Non OEM is fine. I used Raybestos arms IIRC. They've held up fine just like the OEMs for a number of years now.

One of my other cars is notorious for this problem and the typical approach is to use a hacksaw with the blade assembled thru the tube to carefully cut the bushing sleeve and then use a chisel to carefully pry it loose from the LCA.

I'll see if I can find some pictures.

I completed the job this evening and it took me about 2.5 hours to do so (I was thinking this would take me 4-6 hours). The first one was not as straight forward as the second one. Your instructions helped a lot. Thanks. On my first one, I managed to cut into the actual LCA steel with the hack saw accidentally.

I dont think your going to have any problems at all with that little of a score mark in it. I did this job on Friday and mine took about 6 hours. The drivers side was pretty easy however, the passenger side was much worse and I ended up completely having to cut the arms off then cut through the head of the arms, bushing, sleeve and bolt to get it out. They are so thick that a tiny score is very unliklely to cause any future issues.
