rusty power steering line

Recently I had to replace the transmission cooler line due to a small leak and noticed the power steering line right next to it was even in worse rusted shape! This PS pressure line list for over 300 bucks and I cannot find any replacement part other than Toyota OEM! I need to replace this now as it is only a matter of time before this line rusts out as well and causes problems. I need to steer! It does not seem to be a problem here on other runners so I am wondering if I am the only one experiencing this?

My power steering line failed this past May (157,000 km). I went to leave my parking spot one day, and when I pulled out I could see a small puddle of fluid. Power steering was also make some strange noises.

Luckily my mechanic is located only a block from my place. Carefully drove to his shop, with fluid still dripping out of the leak - turned out to be a leak from the PS return line (rusted through).

My mechanic was able to replace just a section of this return line (did not use anything from Toyota).

I just ordered a used pressure line (with included air valve and additional line from valve to pump) for 160.00 including the shipping. Part is from California off an 03 Runner but pictures show it to be very clean looking. My line is so nasty looking I cant believe it is not leaking right now. I would rather spend the money now and have it replaced by my mechanic than have it towed later and forking out cash to Toyota. I also need new axle boots as both are leaking out grease. Crap- hate spending money on this shit with two daughters in college and Christmas around the corner.
