Sabine Pass to High Island Beach Run?

Folks,

I just found this part of the T4R forum. I live just north of Beaumont in Lumberton, TX. See a common sentiment expressed - there's no place to wheel in SE Texas!

There is a place! It's not the best place, it's not high mountains, but it is off-road, remote and requires 4wd!

Anybody game for a getting a run together, let me know. I would be happy to lead the group back down from Sabine Pass to High Island. If we start early we can have a nice afternoon on the beach when we're done.

just to bring this back up im game as soon as it gets warmed up thinking around april,in case we decide to go for a swim, i have a few others intrested in going as well. most likely end up camping that night and possibly doing some fishing depending how warm it is.

all are welcome. :thumb::thumb:been waiting awhile to hit the beach since i got my runner it got to cold before i could make a trip.

any problems with the beach sticker thats required on high island? i wouldnt think so being off the beaten path but just want to make sure
 
nothing is set but i will be back on my weekends off in may, and im looking at doing this may 3rd saturday if there is any intrest. i will most likely be camping somewhere out near high island, i will be starting on the high island side and just going as far as we feel

Have you tried Gilmer, TX? It's not "that" far from you.

Barnwell Mountain Rec Area. I've not run it but it's been there a long time.

Supposed to be going for the first time this weekend, if I don't get stuck working. Its the Lonestar Toyota Jamboree....

Any more info on this? I'm having trouble finding info.

Any other permits or fee's that would be required to do this? Last thing I want on a fun-day is to get slapped with a fine...or worse.
 
Nothing is needed to go towards Sabine pass. We went about 15 miles down before heading back. Its pretty remote. Water on one side then about 20 feet wide and a wire fence along the other side all the way down. We passed a group of jeeps that told us you are able to go all the way down. Also beach is covered in a lot of nice crab shells
 
McFadden beach is what its called out that way. Or the infamous "nude beach". Its not worth stopping. Just keep on going

Noted* May have to consider a "colder" month to do this... like March or April.
 
We had a stock frontier on bald tires with us doing fine. Its just soft sand so you need momentum. I'd recommend not going alone just in case though since there is nothing to tie off too
