Sadly selling the runner...

It is with a very heavy heart that I say that I am selling my 3rd gen. After speaking to the wife, we decided that it may be best to get into something a bit newer, larger and maybe a bit safer. I have found a '10 5th gen trail that I think fits the bill perfectly but I cannot afford 2 car payments. I bought my 3rd gen bone stock almost three years ago and have poured blood, sweat and tears, as well as plenty of dough and man hours into turning this truck into what I knew it could always be. The only saving grace to the situation is that I'd be getting into another 4runner.
The truck is located in Colorado Springs and I would love to see it go to another enthusiast who I can trust will take the best care of it. I will also post a thread up in the classifieds, but please help a brother out finding this beautiful machine a good new home. It's not in the ad, but for forum members, you can also contact me via call/text at 703-967-2257. I have my phone on me at all times, but please no calls after 10pm mountain time

Man, there sure has been a lot of "I'm growing out of my 3rd gen." going on lately. Sad to see you're selling, that's a great truck! Good luck and have fun with that 5th Gen!

I wish it didn't have to come down to this. My runner was the first car I bought entirely stock and transformed. I'm only doing it because I feel a 5th gen would be a better family transporter and it still has 80k miles left on the factory warrantee

I would strongly caution that you keep your 4Runner. These things have proven over and over to be very reliable with bulletproof engines, so many people have wrecked them and walked away... and I can't tell you how many people have sold their 4Runners to only regret it, big time. You can haul three kids and the wife, if you need something bigger, then get a good, used minivan, nothing will do the job of the 4Runner like..well, the 4Runner. You'll always need something like that and you'll regret selling it, I promise you.

and this is biased, coming from a hard-core 3rd gen guy but I don't see a 5th gen doing a better job... but that's me. :)

if you do end up selling (which I really, really hope you don't!):

Man... we'll miss you and that sick 4Runner... You've created a powerful and awesome looking truck there... I hope someone who truly appreciates it will get it and we're sorry to hear that... Glad to hear you'll still be around to some degree in a 5th gen.

farmerjon, I truly appreciate the kind words. I love this truck with a passion and what it's done for me/where it's taken me. The only reason I am considering selling it is for a 5th gen trail with KDSS. Still plenty capable off road, as much room inside as a 4th gen, still under factory warrantee, can run on regular gas AND gets (surprisingly) better fuel economy than my 3rd gen.
I am, however, in the state of mind that if the 5th that I am looking at sells and I can't find another, I am more than happy to drive another 150k miles in good 'ol Bruce

just a suggestion, you should upload your pictures onto photo bucket and copy/paste the html link into the craigslist ad to make your pictures bigger as they are great pics.

Yeah don't let me get started with you dude. One of my favorite 3rd gens you're trying to release to the Wolves
 
Dang thats a nice rig, I bet you'll regret selling it down the line. However as someone with kids I respect your decision to get a newer/safer model. Safety stuff on cars has come along way in the last 10 years.

Regardless of decision, thats one nice setup.

I thank you very much for your kind words. I take a ton of pride in this truck. I know for a fact that I will regret letting this go, but don't for a second think that the 5th gen will stay stock...:cool:
 
Definitely sad to see it go. You should get it over here. You'd get close to $10k for that rig stock with no S/C. How many miles on the S/C?
 
unsure of the actual miles on the supercharger. I was told it had approximately 45k on it before I bought it, but it was professionally rebuilt by PSE Superchargers right before I bought it. I have put maybe 15k on it since
 
Man, I'm seriously considering buying it and then selling it w/o the S/C, but I don't think you'd want to sell it to someone who's going to tear it apart a bit.
 
So long as the essence of the truck stays, I am ok with whatever the buyer decides to do. I just want to be able to keep track of the truck when it goes. Maybe someday I'll have the opportunity to buy it back :)

Sorry to hear your getting rid of it, very well put together truck. At least you'd be replacing it with another 4runner, that roll down rear window still calls to me.
