It was suggested I start a new thread with this one because it is very cool stuff:
If you've seen this already, forgive me for the repeat. But have you guys seen the news about this guy in Kansas? The first story I saw on him was in Fast Company.. Motorhead Messiah. And his company is SAE Energy (SAEenergy.com) and the guy is for real.
Now before a bunch of you go off poo-pooing the ideas as I have seen happen in the Ethanol threads, pay attention to the fact that since November he's actually gotten the full attention of GM heads because some of the mods he's preparing for market are not outlandish stuff that is too expensive to put into production vehicles. Unfortunately he concentrates on GMs Duramax diesel. But he does have some really wicked stuff like that 600hp, 60mpg diesel Hummer that uses a bio-diesel fueled turbine engine to power up the electric motors. But still the message is IT IS FEASIBLE TO HAVE OUR AMERICAN DESIRE FOR COMFY, BRAWNY RIGS AND STILL BE A BIT MORE CLEAN AND EFFICIENT.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a tree-hugger, I am a Republican, and I drive a v8 4runner too. ':biggrin2:' (man, am I gonna get flamed for that one!)
And though I don't believe Ethanol or Wind, or Hybrid Technology, or Bio Fuels, or anything by itself can replace our dependence on fossil fuels, aren't they a step in the right direction? I would LOVE it if a progressive car company like Toyota would put this guy's technology to work for them. Then we can have our cake and eat it too.
